Re: is mkv a good format for SD DVD or only Blu-ray

mkv is a good (the best) container for any codec. People in the 'scene' generally don't upload dvds in mkv simply because of tradition and stubbornness.

Re: cinavia

No one has a solution for cinavia yet. Removing it is not a lossless process and is not trivial.
The best workaround is to simply purchase a device that does not support cinavia. *hint: only a few actually support it in the first place*

You will have to edit the menu item and point it to the icon path manually.

I would guess that the Devs may be able to cross compile for powerpc, however AFAIK their code only runs on x86.

1.)create a file ~/.MakeMKV/settings.conf
2.)paste in the appkey string.

That is all.

Re: Help a noob with an activation key

You can input it via the makemkv gui (about->register) In linux you can make a text file to input the key, but i am unsure of where to put it in windows or mac #create this file with your favorite text editor: ~/.MakeMKV/settings.conf app_Key = "T-FKIYtqAKH3ybawliX_34iidCDFSfE7w_DUPLH4Gk1U6by@Bzv@hB...

Yes Mike has stated that the liscense allows multiple computers, but not both running makemkv simultaneously. Your situation is a good example of it being ok :)

Re: What about lossless options ?

Either you didnt check DTS-HD when using MakeMKV, or your playback device does not support DTS-HD in MKV,
