Re: detect fake playlists on DVD?

1. Update to the latest version of MakeMKV. Already running the latest version 2. If you are using the beta version, get the latest beta key. I own a self-bought key 3.Use WinX DVD Ripper Platinum. It ripped my movie Midway successfully. MakeMKV also can rip the titles just fine in my case. You jus...

detect fake playlists on DVD?

Hey everyone, I know that MakeMKV tries to detect fake playlists on BluRays. But what about on DVDs? More often I have it, especially on series, that MakeMKV lists me like 30GB of tracks on a single disc. Looking at the tracks, various episodes of the series on the disc are grouped together in diffe...

Re: What is "SEG"?

Oh wel... thank you for your response then.

It is strange, why such isn't a standard feature on any BluRay. I guess because the manufacturers don't want anyone to rip their discs, but only play them on stand alone players.

Re: What is "SEG"?

Giving this a bump because it would really make labeling Extras much easier for people like me who otherwise would need an hour to click through the BluRay menu and check the play length for each and every Extra on the disc to see, which file it could be.

Re: On-the-fly decryption software enabled

Is it a DVD? I think the detection goes off, when there is something in brackets in the title manifest of the DVD

Re: What is "SEG"?

I always have had a Java installed, currently Java 1.8.0_251 both x86 and x64. Yes, my MakeMKV is allowed to contact web server for updates No, I have not set up a Custom Java executable location (and MakeMKV never asked me for one either, so it must have found the former mentioned installed Java) D...

Re: What is "SEG"?

I never ever have seen those names, and I processed hundreds of BluRays with MakeMKV so far, and I never had any problem ripping any of the discs either. I'm kinda confused :(

Re: What is "SEG"?

Where do you even see those flags? I've seen screenshots of HD DVDs in this forum where MakeMKV was able to tell, which track had which name. Always assumed that's something special with HD DVDs. I renamed like thousands of 01234.mkv files to the original name by playing the disc and just checking, ...

Be aware, that especially 2.0 tracks are more often comments from directors or actors.

Re: Goodbye MKV

Oh well, great way to to kill a business.... Oh noes, MakeMKV will now stop existing! ... Wait, it's still there? Strange... Can't find any registration numbers to use like you used to do. As already stated the beta key can be found in the same thread since 2010. I'm not going to use my CC on a sit...

Re: MakeMKV not loading DVD

I'd be curious if DvdFab PassKey could analyze such a disk.

Re: Title failing to save due to subtitle track?

Wasn't there something about closed captions which sometimes were said they are there, but there weren't?

What happens if you deselect only forced subtitles?

Edit: thanks Woodstock *changed forced to closed captions*

Re: MakeMKV not loading DVD

Hmm damn. I'm afraid slowly I'm out of ideas what to try (except other ripping programs).

I wonder if DVDshrink can open and analyze the disk

Re: MakeMKV not loading DVD

Do you know if the DVD has a copy protection?

Like try to copy the VIDEO_TS folder from the DVD to your Desktop or something. A CSS copy protection won't let you do this. But maybe there is no protection. Then you can copy the folder and try to open the files inside manually again with MakeMKV

Re: MakeMKV not loading DVD

You said, VLC can't open the disc either.

Does VLC tell anything when you try to open the disc or does just nothing happen at all there?
