Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
I would like to add some info reagarding LLDV mode. Turns out there is a bug in Dolby SDK for all UHD Blu-ray players (and oppoclones as well) This bug leads to noticable picture quality loss in LLDV mode like muted colors, limited brightness and various artefacts. Probably you already familiar wit...

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
These files are a mix of a BL and a random FEL track. This make the FEL data visible on top of the BL when played in DV so it easily tells us if the player just ignores the EL or if it actually use it. The P8 SL sample also has the same random RPU metadata. Results: x700 FEL playback = visible FEL ...

Re: MakeMKV 1.15.4
The 2019 Shield Pro will play them with DV and Atmos, but there are picture accuracy issues, especially with FEL titles. According to another post (yours if I recall), it was mentioned the shield is only able to play single track dual layer DV. When one does a backup operation of an UHD DV disc in ...

Re: MakeMKV 1.15.4
Guys, If I use MakeMKV 1.15.4 to backup my entire 4K disc (containing Atmos and Dolby Vision) and not create an MKV file (I want the whole disc), will the Shield Pro be able to play DV and Atmos (from a backed up 4K disc)? Thanks Not the Shield. I believe the newest Zidoo players can but please dou...

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
The CX can do TV led Dolby Vision so it has 2 decoders, so no discussion. What is more likely is the second decoder is crippled in firmware for media file playback. Have you tried built in Plex app from NAS? Being able to do TV-led DV has nothing to do with whether it has 2 HEVC decoders or not. If...

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
Of course there is an issue. If you see the white sky is pumping / picture is to dark, the (F)EL is not decoded ! in my opinion the CX can only decode the Metadata (RPU) of DV, not the second HEVC stream. maybe the older LG TV can do, I don´t know... to find out, I uploaded the samples for you. So ...

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
Who knows maybe, the CX only has 1 decoder instead of the 2 required, would not surprise me, manufacturers undercut sucessfull product lines for profit all the time. Have seen this happen a lot, a product gets fame for its quality and then next versions are cutdown for profit with inferior material...

Re: This worked for me... 4k UHD MKV w / Dolby Vision
1. Has anyone tried to work on a different angle. So, rather than covert the movie, why not work on a firmware upgrade to firestick that plays FEL movies, then that'd be the easiest, right? Or, Not possible unfortunately. All existing streaming devices have a hardware limitation when it comes to FE...

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
...only the LG OLEDS (mixed report on the current X-generation ones) will be able to play FEL mp4s. @shawnc22 are you able to elaborate at all, or provide a link to more information, about the compatibility of the LG OLED X-Generation? I currently have a C8, but am looking at getting a CX. But I'll...

Re: Dolby Vision and 1.15.3
MediaInfo doesn't differentiate the different EL types. thank you, then I guess the stock Oppo UDP-203 maybe doesn't support single track double layer DV in .mkv. I'll try m2ts next which some users claimed success. Why are you going through so much trouble if you have the oppo? Just play it from t...

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
Wow. This was incredibly helpful. I am interested in finding a tv that supports hdmi 2.1 4k 120hz VRR and can play DV p7 FEL. I also need a receiver that supports p7 FEL. Any suggestions? I have been wondering as well if there is a way to play mkv or mp4 files on a tv without a shield-like set-top ...

Re: Dolby Vision and 1.15.3
If you look at your mediainfo screenshot of the resulting mkv file, you'll notice that video track #1 is now labeled as BL+EL+RPU instead of just BL. That's where the enhancement layer (EL) and the metadata has gone (RPU). Makemkv combines both layers (BL, EL) and the metadata onto a single video t...

Re: Dolby Vision and 1.15.3
I ripped the MKV out of Dolby UHD demo disc. Original is a classic 2-stream DoVi profile 7.6. As a result I get from makeMKV a MKV file that has a single-stream video, also tagged as DoVi profile 7.6 stream. What I do not understand is: what happened to the 2-nd video stream, that is supposed to be...

Re: Dolby Vision and 1.15.3
Probably a stupid question but is there any way to play DV mkvs on C8 without external player? I bought a Shield a couple weeks ago but returned because colors weren't as vivid and image overall quite softer on 4k and SDR content. I know I can remux myself from ISOs to MP4s but MKVs are easily acce...
