Re: BlueRay ripped by MKV not shown correctly in Fantec Medi

If the movie is stuttering even over USB on your media player I do not think the Fantec can handle the bit-rate from Blu-ray's. The other thing is make sure you take only regular AC3 or DTS audio track when ripping as many media players cannot handle the Blu-ray TrueHD or DTS-MA audio tracks but if ...

Re: how to create one coherent MKV-file ?

Re: MKV playback causing XBMC to crash

Could the drive trying to read the discs be faulty or the discs scratched ?

Try running the files created from MakeMKV through MKVmerge and generate a new file from that, see if it still crashes.

This is what I do for under Windows no idea about OSX/linux tools I'm afraid Download Staxrip * select any preset at startup e.g Divx Plus * input the video MKV file with True HD or DTS-MA track * click the blue Divx Plus text and select "Just Mux" * ...

Re: What BluRay file is the English Version ?

This happens with Pixar movies, its the way they author the Blu-ray for multi-language, MakeMKV usually can tell you which language track it is if you expand the main movie selection before ripping. For example the first track on Wall-E is the English audio track and English video steam when ripped ...

Re: Specific ways to optimize a computer for HD playback?

There is a good tutorial here on optimizing MPC-HC for playback of Blu-ray's. Switching to MadVR output renderer greatly improves the seeking ability in MPC-HC (image quality too of course), however by using MadVR you lose GPU hardware acceleration support so you will need a CPU that can handle the ...

MakeMKV being sold by third party

Mike I dont know if you've seen this but a company called OWC is selling some Mac Mini HTPC kit with a software bundle that includes MakeMKV ?

Don't know if you authorized this or their doing it of their own accord but I thought you'd want a heads up.

Re: Multi-Channel PCM mkv not playing audio in 7mc?

I can back up what the others are saying I came across one Blu-ray (Apocalypto I believe it was) and you can successfully rip the disc with the original LPCM track from the disc (no TrueHD or DTS-MA on disc) but the file will not play in any media player I used (MPC-HC, Potplayer, XBMC, VLC) and I t...

Re: Compressing Blu-ray video files?

Try using XBMC or Boxee to play the media as both have OSX versions (Plex itself is a fork of XBMC).

If you have access to Windows there are plenty of other x264 encoders like Staxrip or Ripbot264 that you could use instead of handbrake.

Re: Compressing Blu-ray video files?

MakeMKV does not touch the video, it jut extracts original stream to .mkv container. What you want is an x264 encoder like Handbrake . * Feed it the .mkv file via source->file * use the High Profile preset * select mkv as container * go to the audio tab and make AC3 passthru or DTS passthru the prim...

Re: Forced Subtitles on new Dances with Wolves BD

I'm not familiar with an OSX tools but for Windows... * Use MKVcleaver to extract the subtitles * Then convert using suprip or some other tool into .srt format * Use MKVmerge on the original movie.mkv plus the .srt file, deselect the old subtitles and set the srt subtitles "Forced track flag" to yes...

Feature Request:Flac Audio Conversion

This might be stepping outside the boundaries of MakeMKV so perhaps making it a pay for feature only available to owners of MakeMKV [if you consider it at all]. Anyway I think it would be great to have an option to convert the audio stream into Flac during the ripping process. You can do this afterw...

Re: Quick Questions

1. Yes 2. The WDTV (v1 original) can only handle Dolby AC3 audio downmix, there is no DTS downmix support but you can passthru AC3/DTS to an amp. The WDTV Live/Hub/v2 support downmix on AC3/DTS and can passthru AC3/DTS/TrueHD to an amp, DTS-MA is not supported for passthru. 3. That is dependent on t...

Re: Newbie, help needed

Uh not sure whats going on there but that doesn't sound like your using MakeMKV. MakeMKV rips the movie to a .mkv container, in the GUI you can de-select everything but the main movie and the preferred audio track. After the movie has finished being ripped you can play it a variety of media players,...

Re: Media Players, lets discuss!

XBMC - free, open source and cross platform, granted not for everyone given its media center interface but pretty good overall. Best two Windows player for me are MPC-HC and PotPlayer , I prefer the simple GUI of MPC-HC and its quick loading but videos in PotPlayer look slightly better and it has a...
