Re: LPCM and MKV

@eNoize:

It sounds to me like Window's audio mixer is mixing up the channels. Use Reclock in WASAPI mode and you'll bypass Window's audio mixer - should fix your problem.

Re: LPCM and MKV

eac3to can downsample to 16-bit, but the default is to preserve the source's bit depth. It will also intelligently reduce the bit-depth to 16-bit if the source is 24-bit but doesn't use the least-significant 8 bits. I've found this on quite a few ostensibly 24-bit LPCM tracks. The empty 8 bits are ...

No. When possible, eac3to always does lossless conversions. I think it may be an option though.

I use this: useac3to

Eac3to is probably the best for converting just about any type of audio, and with this gui you can just drag and drop the mkv.

Re: File Size?

MakeMKV does not and probably will never do any compressing. You need a program such as Handbrake, or better yet, a faster network.

Re: Question About makemkv's subtitle flag setting....

I have to manually run the output of makemkv through Mkvmerge and set the subtitle default track flag to "no" so that subutitles will not play by default. Is there an option in to to avoid this minor inconvenience. Use mmg's (mkvMergeGUI) Header Editor (in mmg, click File > Header Editor, and drag ...

Re: Recommended Program to Transcode MKV's produced by MakeM

I have a purchased program called VideoReDo that can transcode these MakeMKV's to the required size but it removes any secondary audio and the chapter marks. After you use VideoRedo to transcode, you can use MKVmerge to re-add the secondary audio and chapters. Personally, I use Handbrake for progre...

Re: full disc back up or .mkv

Actually, using "backup" instead of "copy titles" could save a lot of space! For instance, the Avatar Collector's Edition 1st BD can show you 3 different versions of the full movie: 1 with no scenes deleted; 1 with *some* scenes deleted; the last with *more* scenes deleted (the theatrical version)....

Re: Friends with Benefits

I've seen this on a few discs lately. There are two playlists that contain the entire movie - one has the correct number of chapters, the other has 100+. The workaround I used is to use eac3to to demux the disc, and manually select the correct playlist.

I don't already know, but I've found it before by using a web search. A Caviar Black may not be one you'll find though.

If you take the enclosure off an external drive, it's just a normal internal drive.

It's not too hard to find out which internal drive is sold in the different enclosures - if you're looking for a specific model.

Re: Feature Request:Flac Audio Conversion

According to the author of eac3to, it's best to use eac3to to convert from the disc (or a disc saved to a hdd). I do it that way, and I've never had any issues.

Re: MakeMKV is changing the subtitle streams while muxing!

eac3to might be able to extract the streams from both files.
