Re: Handbrake can't see subtitles from makeMKV?

You can still do batch ripping with Handbrake for Windows, but the GUI can only batch through the GUI, and the "queue" files it generates are useless for the Command Line Interface. You're either "all in" for the GUI, or "all in" for the CLI. My work flow for some projects HAS to go through a batch ...

Re: Handbrake can't see subtitles from makeMKV?

Disappointing... I have not had good luck with .NET-based stuff. The reason I went to just having HB write batch files was that they didn't crash because .NET couldn't write a log file that wasn't requested in the first place. Well, that, and the fact that I can modify a batch file with a tex...

Re: Sony DVDirect Dual Layer Issue for Model VRDMC5

While it probably won't help with this, have you tried it with version 1.8.3, which was released last week?

Re: I can't rip a disc to secondary HFS+ storage

The issue is, what is Macdrive telling Windows (and MakeMKV) about the characteristics of the HFS drive? A lot of drivers manage "foreign" drive geometries by mapping them into something the host operating system can recognize. If they make it look like NTFS, Windows will try to treat it as such, an...

Did the new release drop support for the GUI generating batch files, like the Nightly Builds did last July? I stopped updating when they did that, because it broke my work flow completely.

Re: Exact Bluray Copy

Question.... By "exact copy", are you meaning burn a new BD that is an exact copy of the original? If so, that is not what MakeMKV is for, and no, it won't do it. But, if you mean the complete structure of the BD, copied to your hard drive in a form that preserves the resolution of both the audio an...

Re: Noob question

Bluray subtitles are .... different. While it is possible to have a full set of subtitles, with some of them marked as "forced" (things like signs) and some are optional, the authors of the BD can royally screw that up. Theoretically, if you are watching a dubbed show in the dubbed language, the sub...

Re: How to use "Backup"? (Registered only?)

"Backup" is a Bluray-only option that will copy the BD directory structure to your hard drive, with all files, optionally decrypting them as it does. What you get can be "played" by most BD-aware programs, with menus and everything. This is distinct from the normal operation of making each title on ...

Re: Noob question

Assuming you rip all parts of the main track, yes, it will be exactly as it is on the BD, just packaged in a MKV container. Now, the default is not going to be to "rip everything". For example, if there are 3 English language tracks in different levels of channels, the usual defaults are to ignore t...

Re: Good Day to Die Hard (2013)

Did you go and delete the BD+ file dump? MakeMKV saved it as part of its normal operations, so it would still be present unless you removed it.

The link I was forgetting is this one: http://www.makemkv.com/svq/

It describes how MakeMKV deals with BD+ fix-up code.

Re: Good Day to Die Hard (2013)

He means that BD+ is not the same thing as AACS encryption. There is a link in the MakeMKV FAQ section to an explanation of what BD+ is. Saved BD+ dump file as C:\Users/.MakeMKV/dump_A_Good_Day_to_Die_Hard_E1705C7E75B03A2E.tgz Send that file to Mike at svq@makemkv.com and he can use it to generate a...

Re: Razor / The plan (Battlestar Galactica)

There is no reason to rip to ISO before using MakeMKV. Not to mention the fact that dd doesn't give you a true ISO from a video disk, due to the copy protection. What happens when you run MakeMKV against the disk itself? And version 1.8.3 just came out, so you can install that and update the key thr...

Re: Missing audio track

Have you looked at the properties of the individual movie track, to see what is selected? In the left window pane of the GUI, click on the "+" to expand the tracks. Often, I've seen multiple tracks for a given language, one with higher-spec audio than another, and MakeMKV defaults to ignoring the le...

Re: Program does not recognized the bluray drive

You would have to re-author the disks using a BD authoring program, OR go with dual-layer BD disks, which will hold up to 50GB. By re-authoring, you can remove things you don't want, like extras, unwanted audio/subtitle tracks, etc. If the main title is over 25GB, though, dual-layer is the only way ...
