Re: Sorry - Tried to do things on my own without help - stuc

Error 'Scsi error - MEDIUM ERROR:1090' occurred while reading '/BDMV/STREAM/00006.m2ts' at offset '325632'
The operating system said that the request to read that sector didn't work. There is probably a flaw in the disk.

Have you cleaned it?

Re: Multiple Audio Streams

Which players did you test with?

One I would try this with is VLC, because it can play both MKV files and the raw DVD itself. If it can play the 5.1 track from the DVD but NOT from the MKV file, it probably won't be a CODEC problem.

Does it play the other tracks through the optical port?

Re: Sony BX59 and MKV files

My first test would be to use Handbrake to encode a movie twice, using the exact same settings, except have it output one as an MP4, the other as an MKV. If the MP4 plays, but the MKV doesn't, the player doesn't support MKV containers. If they both play just fine, then there is an issue with the COD...

Re: a/v out of sync on mac

Why do they have to be so huge? Because they're huge on the DVD or (especially) BD, and MakeMKV copies what is on the disk into the file. It doesn't change its encoding, it just copies. There are exceptions - some audio recoding is available. But, you're going to get the video as it is on the origin...

Re: If I activate makemkv.....

If you do not purchase a license, the beta key expires periodically, and you have to renew it. The latest one is always posted in the Announcements section of the board, in a message titled MakeMKV is free while in beta . Quite a bit of the time (but not always!), a new version comes out before the ...

Re: Liscense

One at a time, essentially.

I have it installed on on several, but only one is ever in use at any given time, so one license covers them.

Re: All Rips Fail After Windows 8 Install

There are a couple of other threads on here about problems with Win8. It seems that one or more DLLs that are necessary are not properly registered unless the install is done "just so". In some cases, simply doing the install and running with administrator privileges will fix it. One of the other th...

Re: a/v out of sync on mac

MakeMKV-created backup is when you use the File->Backup option that is available for Bluray disks (also on the tool bar when a BD is loaded, greyed out for DVDs). This option copies the contents of the BD to the hard drive, optionally decrypting the video files as it does so. You then can use a play...

Re: a/v out of sync on mac

On the Mac, your best bet seems to be to use MakeMKV to rip the disk, then Handbrake to compress the files into something that Quicktime can handle better. It can still retain full resolution. Are you playing a MakeMKV-created MKV file, or from an MakeMKV-created backup? I wasn't aware that Apple ha...

You need to give Mike something to work from... What errors were encountered?

Turn on debugging (Preferences, General, Log debug messages) and post the logs generated for the attempts to convert the disks.

Re: Ripping tv series dvd

This is a common issue - the DVD's menu will have a "scenes" list that corresponds with episodes, but they're all part of one file on the DVD or BD. While you open the DVD in MakeMKV and select the title, you might see a "segment map" that looks like: 1-6,7-12,13-18,19-24,25-30,31 Which essentially ...

Do you have any software installed to play BD on Windows?

I had a similar problem until I removed the Cyberlink BD drivers. A lot of problems (not just MakeMKV) cleared up after it was uninstalled!

Re: Makemkv does not work in Windows 8 but worked in Windows

What happens when you tag MakeMKV to run with administrator privileges?

There was a topic a short time ago on this subject - Win8 enforces hardware security more tightly than Win7 and earlier, and MakeMKV tries to talk directly to the drive. It only worked with administrator privileges.

Re: MakeMKV 1.7.9 Subtitles in wrong character set on WDTV

There is a way to get a "third opinion" on whether or not the MKV file has corrupted subtitles... Using the "nightly build" version of Handbrake. The NB version can read and burn in subtitles from BD's in MKV files. It won't be fast, but it will show if the MKV file really is the problem, or if it i...
