Re: Have a question on what an error means

Usually, no. It typically means that the directory said a file was X cells long, but other information on the disk said the real data was just a portion of that. However, it is usually a good idea to verify any tracks that were tagged that way during the scan fully extracted. I have had disks where ...

Re: Error "Scsi error"

When dealing with region coding, MakeMKV can bypass it through brute-force attacks on most drives. Sometimes, there are drives that do not relent. The suggestion to check rpc1.org to see if they have replacement firmware for your drive is one option. If firmware exists for your drive, it will turn i...

Re: can I change the output filename logic?

Logic on creating the name, not yet. Not doing the _ is a frequent request we make of Mike. But, if you have Expert mode enabled (General settings tab in preferences), you will be able to change the file name before the rip occurs; there will be a pull-down menu next to the "name" box that lets you ...

Re: Movie setup menus

You cannot store menus in an MKV file, so your only option is to do a "backup", which copies the original collection of files onto your hard drive, with optional decryption.

Re: Price

Actually, I think it's good to discuss it periodically, even though we know things aren't going to change... :) Not to mention the fact that it would be a bit difficult to search for "why so much?" messages to tack onto. As for "why not PayPal?", you'd really have to wait for Mike to answer that. I ...

Re: Price

Price discussion comes up every month or so. Mike set the price in US dollars, and the payment handling company adjusts that to cover currency conversions and other things necessary to deal with different markets. Cost/value equation is different for different people. Use it a lot? Worth the money. ...

Re: MakeMKV suddenly won't work

If MakeMKV reads the disk fine on a different drive, start by cleaning your drive. Do you re-use the same area of your hard drive for each rip? That is, do you rip to the local drive, then move the files elsewhere afterward, freeing up the space for the next rip? If so, you might have disk problems....

Re: Errors with Captain America - The First Avenger

Scratches can be a big problem, especially with BDs. With a DVD, you lose less data to the same size scratch, and SOMETIMES, switching to a DVD drive with its different-wavelength laser can see through well enough to do the rip. If you don't have access to someone with an actually disk refinishing s...

Re: unable to make .mkv 3D from .iso Bluray 3D

MakeMKV does not select the 3D track by default; you have to select it. RIGHT click on the little triangle next to the title in question in the left hand window, and look for the "MVC" track. Check it to select it.

Oh, a different kind of "need", which I totally understand! My old Dell i8500 laptop recently received a flash boot drive upgrade, even though I rarely use it. :)

Re: Mr. Peabody and Sherman

Most likely, 801 is the US version, and 802 is non-US. The difference would be in signs and titles, and the extra tracks are for different languages. Easiest way to tell is to watch the titles portion of the movie.

When you right-click on the triangle next to the title in the left hand window, the audio track is not listed, or just not selected?

Re: Downloading 1.9 but in software it says 1.8.13

If the Help->About still says 1.8.13, you did not get a proper install of the software. Most likely cause is that either 1.8.13 was running when you attempted the install, or there was a permissions problem when the installer tried to remove the old copy.

Do an uninstall, then install 1.9.0 again.

I used that link to buy a license and got a receipt, but never received an actual license. Who should I follow up with? support@makemkv.com is who to contact. The email with the receipt should have contained the key. Mine was like this: Your online order placed on http://www.makemkv.com on xxxxxx x...

An SSD is not necessary, because conventional hard drives can normally keep up quite well.
