Re: Combine chapters from a DVD?

This is actually a case where you have multiple one-chapter titles. MakeMKV operates on the "title" level, rather than chapter level. So, no, there is no way to tell treat the collection as one title, unless the disk authors also included a "play all" title. There are, however, tools available to ch...

More information would be helpful... Do you have debugging turned on? (see link in my signature)

Post the debugging log here when you get a chance.

Re: Snow White and the Huntsman

Yes.

One of the great fallacies of optical media is that it is reliable... it isn't. Hardware players are programmed to ignore bad sectors, but a rip is trying to make a bit-for-bit copy of the file, so errors that can't be corrected using redundant information on the disk are flagged.

Re: Another newbie! Couple of questions, please

Personally, I back up to MKV, but the "production" ends in MP4 format. There are things you can't do in MP4, but... The players the family uses all understand MP4 in one way or another, and not all understand MKV. And some will play MKV files if they're on a USB drive, but not over the network. What...

Only hope of an answer is to enable debugging and post your log... Link in my signature on how to do that.

Re: Unable to copy at all using either Windows or a Mac

The test to see if it is the drive would be to rip a different disk, and see if it, too, has unrecoverable read errors, as well as trying the SAME disk to see if the errors are in the same place, or move around. Sometimes, a drive will have seek failures, and not get to where the software expects it...

Re: Another newbie! Couple of questions, please

Handbrake's normal settings will make the file smaller, but there are a number of settings in the "quality" area (RF being one of them) that can make the file LARGER in a hurry. Cars, for example, with the standard Handbrake "High Profile" preset, shrank about 60%, down to just under 1.6GB, for me. ...

002003:0000 Error 'Scsi error - MEDIUM ERROR:UNRECOVERED READ ERROR' occurred while reading '/BDMV/STREAM/00000.m2ts' at offset '372123648' That indicates that the drive couldn't read part of the disk. Under your MakeMKV preferences, are you ripping iwth the "WDTV" profile?

WDTV requires that BD subtitles be compressed.

Re: When is this going to be out of BETA?

Personal opinion: Doesn't matter. Of course, I bought it well over a year ago. A lot of software is "beta quality" being sold as "release versions". Some doesn't even qualify as "beta quality". The difference is that you don't know you're a beta tester when you go in, you assume everything works, an...

Re: Very new at this with rookie question

You tried to use Microsoft tools without external help... but it's a common error. :) Try VLC, which can be found at videolan.org, and works with most operating systems. It works with most common video formats. You can also look for CODEC packages to enable MKV playback on Microsoft Media Player. Th...

Re: Possible Mastering Error - Urusei Yatsura Volume 26

You probably should jump in on the thread from November on these disks... The last thing posted on it was a request from Mike for log information for each of the problem disks, but the original poster did not respond. As for Netflix, I was working my way through the series at the time, and the probl...

Re: Possible Mastering Error - Urusei Yatsura Volume 26

There is another thread on this here. Disks 26-30 cannot be read properly by MakeMKV, due to problems with the way they're mastered. You can find it by searching for "urusei". Disks 1-25 and 31-50 are apparently OK. But, there wasn't much data for Mike to work with to work around it, since only one ...
