Re: Forced Subtitles on DVDs

Now you know why I said, "I do not think you have..." ;) It may exist, but I have not seen it used in over 600 bilingual DVDs I've got in my collection. The forced subtitles are either separate tracks, or there is no differentiation. MakeMKV only offers to try differentiating between "normal" and "f...

Re: Homeland Season 2

Was the source a bluray, or DVD? (can't take for granted that it's a BD, just because you posted here... :) )

There are certain CODECs found on BDs that a lot of players cannot decode.

Re: It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia Season 8

The debug output says it was saved as /Users/Reeveseye/.MakeMKV/dump_It_s_Always_Sunny_in_Philadelphia__Season_8__Disc_1_EEF01A06D2F3F256.tgz on your drive, so it should be fairly easy to find... Assuming the operating system doesn't "help" you by hiding things in your home directory. (Yes, i...

Have you forwarded the generated file to svq@makemkv.com for analysis?

Re: Forced Subtitles on DVDs

On a DVD, I do not think you have a "forced only" flag, like you do on Bluray. So, you're stuck with what the track has. And, what I have seen on most BD disks is that the FO flag is not used, at least, not if there is also a DVD release of the title. Forced subtitles are assigned their own track, r...

Re: Behavior on Windows (Vista) versus Linux (Ubuntu)

Are you clicking on the big button with the disk on it, which will open the disk (i.e., read it to determine what files can be read)?

The default behavior for MakeMKV is to generate MKV files, NOT to do a backup.

Re: No Subtitles on MKV files created from Bluray, DVD Files

BD subtitles are PGS format, which is only recognized by a subset of players out there. Some will recognize them in an M2TS file from a MakeMKV Backup, but not in an MKV container. Some will recognize them in an MKV, but only if they're compressed using GZip (this is done if you use MakeMKV with the...

Re: Supernatural: Season 2 - Not separate episodes?

Mike, I think what he's pointing out is that there are 6 episodes within the two big files, but only 4 individual episodes shown when using 1.8.4.

Re: EPIC (20 Aug '13 BD Release)

Unless you've disabled it, the download of updated SVQ files should be automatic, as needed. MakeMKV preferences, General tab, make sure you have a data directory set, and "Allow contacting web server for updates" enabled. It is also a good idea to have "Log debug messages" checked, and eventually y...

The fact that MakeMKV says no disk loaded usually means the operating system didn't see the disk. Does it see a disk loaded when you put in a DVD or an previously-ripped BD, or does it always say "No disk loaded"?

Error 'Scsi error - MEDIUM ERROR:L-EC UNCORRECTABLE ERROR' occurred while reading '/BDMV/STREAM/00041.m2ts' at offset '0' The operating system is telling MakeMKV that it can't read parts of the disk. Re: Disable Subtitles?

You can tell MakeMKV to not include the subtitles when it rips, or you can use tools like MKV Toolnix to remove the subtitle tracks after the fact (transcoding with Handbrake also allows that option). In MakeMKV, if you click on the little triangle next to each title in the left hand menu, it will e...

Re: Evil Dead 2 Blu-ray (Studio Canal UK Box set)

One possibility is always to clean the disk, even if it is new. I've had more than one disk set arrive "off the pegs", rattling around the packaging, including one this past week. For DVDs, the scratches were superficial enough that both disks ripped without additional work, but my procedure when it...

Re: Evil Dead 2 Blu-ray (Studio Canal UK Box set)

The key seems to be this: Error 'Scsi error - MEDIUM ERROR:UNRECOVERED READ ERROR' occurred while issuing SCSI command AD010..080002400 to device 'IoKit:IOBDServices:1a3e638463b72a7d:TSSTcorp BDDVDW SE-506BB TS00' MakeMKV asked the operating system to read the disk, the OS said it couldn't.
