Re: Enhancing multiple concurrent disc rips

So I bought a third Blu-ray drive, and yeah, this behavior is insufferable. You think it's bad when two MakeMKV instances are competing for the same drive? Try pulling your hair out when it's three. I thought I would be able to plow through some box sets lickety-split, but not with MakeMKV's "h...

Re: Can MakeMKV create ISO images from DVDs?

Can you use VMware or some other such virtual machine to run Windows on your Linux box? That sure seems easier than trying to figure it out natively (and dealing with the grumps here )

Re: Titles on Bluray with Japanese audio show up twice

It's not that big a deal when it's just one movie, but this is 20 discs with as many as 12 episodes each. It really puts a crimp on doing it in batch mode when it's going to take twice as long and take up twice as much space.

Titles on Bluray with Japanese audio show up twice

This particular example is the Friends TV show Bluray collection. I've seen it on other discs as well, but it didn't become a major annoyance until now. The first 12 titles listed have the original English audio and all of the other languages EXCEPT Japanese. The second 12 titles are the same as the...

Re: Is there a way to Select HD Audio by default through the

I really don't see what's so difficult about this line: -sel:all,+sel:(deu|eng|nolang),-sel:(core),-5:(forced*(eng)),-10:(deu),-15:(forced*(deu)) Cooking this up once certainly beats having to remux each file. I watch a lot of foreign movies. So I can't just "cook that up once". Plus, wit...

Re: DVD Menu Shows 3 But MKV Only Makes 2

Okay I D/L'd and installed "DVD Decrypter" and ran the DVD through it. Then I ran the decrypted files through MAKEMKV. I'm still not having any luck with this. I could really use some direction. I don't mind paying for the program if that is what it takes. Thanks Jim Until you get this so...

Re: Is there a way to Select HD Audio by default through the

No. You need to set up profiles. Have fun screwing around with XML files This is not correct. You just need to change default selection rule in preferences, search advanced subforum for details. It's still more complicated than it needs to be, otherwise you wouldn't see questions like this. A setti...

I replied to this yesterday, but my post was flagged for moderation - I guess because I included a link to this forum. Just search for profiles.

Re: What are the default destination options?

None - You choose a folder every time. Auto - A subfolder named for the disc is made under a VIDEO subfolder on the drive with the most free space. SemiAuto - A subfolder named for the disc is made under the drive and folder you specify in the options. Custom - The drive and folder you specify in t...

No. That would make things far too easy. You have to futz around with "profiles". Have fun

Re: Subtitles vs closed captioning

How are CC encoded on DVDs? Not subtitles, but closed captions. They are embedded in the MPEG stream. How do I get at the closed captions? You don't, at least not with MakeMKV. You'll need another program (there are plenty - use Google) to extract them as text, then MKVmerge to mux them into the MK...

Re: MakeMKV Batch Converter

Handy little program. Thanks for the updates. I've noticed some issues: 1) It crashes when trying to run from my Program Files (x86) folder. It runs fine from my Desktop. It's likely something at my end, but that is bizarre behavior. Problem signature: Problem Event Name: CLR20r3 Problem Signature 0...

Re: Language selection

Good thing that the only language I use is English and don't have to worry about this matter too much. It's a shame MakeMKV still wants to think for me. I set English as the preferred language in the settings, and it still decides I don't want any lossless audio or DD 2.0 tracks. Apparently I'm goi...

Instead of using the header editor, try remuxing the entire file with the new names entered under "General track options".

Re: Am I missing Closed Captions with 2.6.3 ??

Is this supposed to be a screenshot of text-based CC or DVD bitmap subtitles? Looks like the latter. It's closed captioning. That's why I said closed captioning a billion times and posted this in a closed caption thread. Hogan's Heroes Season One doesn't have subtitles. It looks blocky because I sh...
