Malformed VC-1 MKV?
There seems to be something wrong when MakeMKV extracts a VC-1 video track. I noticed this when I started to re-trancode some of my BD's again. I started out using MakeMKV to extract the video track to convert with MeGUI (using avisynth and Haali Media Splitter) but had to fall back on eac3to when I...

Re: Windows 7 compatible?
did you try to minimize the app? I'm not talking about the percentage complete on the title. I'm talking about the icon shading that graphically shows progress in each application. Both the mkvmerge gui and MeGUI are both able to do this now. Comes in quite handy because you don't have to move the ...

Re: Windows 7 compatible?
How about support for the progress indicator on the Windows 7 taskbar? That would be sweet!

Re: Aspect Ratios
10 Things I Hate About You is a letterboxed DVD. Meaning it is widescreen put into a 4:3 frame. Unfortunately, many DVD's are like that. Many movie companies market them as "widescreen" or note their letterboxed aspect ratio. Unless they actually say "formatted for widescreen TV's&quo...

Pulldown Flags Option Suggestion
How about an option to remove DVD pull-down flags on full film content (i.e. NTSC 24.976fps or PAL 25fps content)?
Of course this can't be done on hard telecined DVD's. And of course it can't be done on interlaced material.
Would be nice to have the option though.

Re: Screen Formatting Problems!
I've noticed on Paramount DVD's if it says "widescreen" it really means letterboxed. If it says specifically something like enhanced for 16:9 widescreen or anamorphic widescreen that means the video frame is 16:9. Now, on a 16:9 frame video what that means is if the video is actually wider...

Re: Screen Formatting Problems!
Of all the original Star Trek movies that is the only one I don't own because it's such a horrible movie. But I digress. Mike is correct. The cause of your problem is because the movie is letterboxed. Meaning the actual shape of the video is made to fit an old normal TV and NOT a newer widescreen TV...

Re: MakeMkv and Camcorder HD video
Use tsmuxer GUI to demux the video and audio and then use mkvmerge to turn it into an mkv. Although doing it this way you'll lose the framerate. It will need to be specified when dropping it into mkvmerge.

The US "Enemy Mine" DVD begins reading and then MakeMKV crashes and quits. Not sure what is causing the crash.

Why not just use Handbrake and skip using MakeMKV as a middle-man?

Re: Some Ripped Movies Not Playable
Ok, the latest version 1.4.6 seems to fix the problems I was having with Mallrats and Dogma. MakeMKV now properly picks up Angle 1 on Mallrats. Turns out Angle 2 is a commentary track with a video overlay of those making the comments. Dogma also ripped correctly and playably. I'm going to try a coup...

Re: Extreme Case of Window Boxing...Need Help.
Probably means it is a 4x3 letterboxed movie rather than being an actual 16x9 movie. Your only option would probably be to use the zoom controls on your TV to enlarge the video to fit the screen. Letterboxing is one of those evil things that should have ended with the VHS tape but for whatever reaso...
