Re: [Feature Request] Easy stream extract

I went to VideoHelp.com and looked thru the tools section of the forum under the subcatagory subtitles. The only program out of 40 that was listed as working with the Mac was Jubler. I tried to load a SUP and it would not take it. Maybe you might try googling Mac subtitles. There are lots of sites t...

Re: Feature Request - File Split by Chapter

I also didn't know that even though I've used merge before.

Nice to know.

Re: Remembering play position in MKV

All I can add to this is that MKVs produced by MakeMKV when played on my Seagate player are able to remember the last played position and begin at that location.

Re: Compatibililty with WD

Seagate just released a new firmware update for their FAT+ (v.1.45)-it included a lot of improvements but it did not include PGS support for MKV.

Thankfully, muxing out a PGS and converting it to idx/sub is a very quick and simple process.

Re: Compatibililty with WD

This to Mike re: inclusion of idx/sub into Makemkv. If you include idx Please don't do like your competitor and forget to also include the original PGS. As you said above the PGS does have it's advantages and in time players will probably be able to use them. With your competitor, their conversion t...

Re: Compatibililty with WD

One of the other BR ripping programs is now providing mkv output but it converts the internal PGS to external IDX?sub files. It does not have the ability to make a MKV that plays PGS. I have heard that VLC (a software player has a new Beta version that will play MKV PGS/sup subtitles. Seems like the...

Re: Compatibililty with WD

Doesn't take much to convert the PGS/sup to idx/sub. and they can either be remuxed back in or used as externals. Other programs are beginning to address this issue and actually convert the PGS to ann external idx.Using additional free programs a PGS can be muxed out and converted to idx/sub in less...

Re: Chapters

I hadn't found that to be the case with my usage. The earlier versions would not show chapters sometimes even though there were chapters and it did not process them. Maybe the newest version sometimes shows the chapters but still doesn't process them. I just haven't run into the problem yet. To make...

Re: Converting Blu-ray PGS subtitles

@MilesAhead Your approach is the proper approach. When all else fails.....re-read the manual. I guess the Seagate is much like the WD. After reading the manual again it all became clear. The Seagate manual indicates that the device will not play pgs subs, but it does if it's in a .ts However, from m...

Re: Subtitles for the WD and Seagate players--How??

@Danger The problem appears to be that many of the newer hardware playback systems will not display subtitles of that format (Apparently any PGS/SUP bitmap-based subtitles)as part of an .MKV "package". As I indicated earlier it's too much effort and time consuming for me to go thru the gy...

Re: Subtitles for the WD and Seagate players--How??

Well, I was able to put subtitles into a mkv that would play on my Seagate player. I ended up using suprip and using mkvmerge I was able to using demuxed BR files and only the srt to get subtitles. Needless to say, I did everything without using Makemkv and needless to also say that after going thru...

Re: Subtitles for the WD and Seagate players--How??

@setarip_old Yes indeed. I did read that and I'm going back to retry it again later tonight. I've just been adding subtitles and trying to see if one of them will stick. Now I will go back to do it with only one subtitle at a time. Your question in a previous post also is on my mind asking about why...

Subtitles for the WD and Seagate players--How??

What a dilemma. .ts and .m2ts rips will give me subtitles on both the WD and Seagate player without doing anything special to get them. Problem with the .ts m2ts rips is no chapters. Doesn't seem to be a way around that. So, mkv. Makemkv has a problem with some BR rips and not passing thru the chapt...

Re: MakeMKV generating bad MKVs?

@setarip_old My comments were in reference to BDs. My feeling still is that everything that I use to play converted BDs in .ts .m2ts or mkv is still all in beta and that includes both my players a WD and a Seagate. I have used the other mkv programs that remux and have had better success in playing ...

Re: Blu-Ray rips half resolution / Size

Well, the size seems about right if some of the extras were removed. If you don't have MediaInfo download it. It's free and It will give a complete read out of the resulting file. Normally a BR to MKV conversion should take about 30-60 min even on a very slow computer. Without a readout from MediaIn...
