Re: Issue with File > Open Files
If you've ripped it to a folder, depending on what you wanted to do, there might be other software that would work. For example, if you wanted to convert the contents to MKV or MP4 files, handbrake (from handbrake.fr) will do that from a BD folder structure, while also making the resulting files sma...

Re: DVD issues
What you describe will happen if there is inadequate bandwidth to get the video to the playback program, but it would be WORSE with BD video than DVD. Since MakeMKV copies the video as-is after decryption (codec is not changed), you should not be seeing this. Are you playing from a network source, o...

Re: makemkv mystery
Media->Open Folder, point to the BDMV folder of your backup. Click "Select folder". This will play the primary track. If you open the folder where index.bdmv is, VLC will let you access pretty much everything on the disk, but that is usually an overwhelming array of things. And it might no...

If it is a DVD, you can use manual DVD mode: /manualdvd/

Re: Corrupt or invalid at offset ???
Often asked for, but... Mike has said no. Do you do ANY post-rip processing? That is, do you run the files through handbrake or other software, to make them smaller? "Skipping" an error will usually cause those programs to fail an encode. There are ripping programs out there that will skip...

Re: Preserving Subtitles
Not really. Some would say that, if you can manage the command line options, ffmpeg is more powerful, but I'll stick with handbrake.

Re: Preserving Subtitles
You'll need your encode log from handbrake, and can post the question over on forum.handbrake.fr. If you don't know where the logs are, they have a link (outlined in "pink") explaining where they are. The one thing to watch for is that some (most?) players automatically play the first subt...

Re: Logan - no FUTs
There was a post here a couple of days ago from someone who got an email from him. Apparently there is a key-revoking version of AACS out there that will require a new version, and the beta key expires next week, so he should pop up shortly. As for the FUTs on Logan - is this the same as "Logan...

Re: Same disk, two different errors on two different drives.
Differences in the optics of the drives. Tolerances for laser angle and wavelength are pretty darn tight, but they're tolerances just the same. A slight difference in either can make a section of a disk readable or unreadable. I see this more with DVDs being read in BD drives. 99.99% of the time it'...

Re: Can't open BluRay 2-Bluray's 2-players
Different things happen at different times. If you are doing a "Backup", the Java engine is never called, because MakeMKV does not try to figure out which play list is the "real" playlist; it's just copying files off the BD. If you are ripping to MKV files (using the "Open&q...

Re: Can't open BluRay 2-Bluray's 2-players
MakeMKV detected that you have Java installed, but apparently it either does not have permission to run it, or it isn't really where it's supposed to be. MakeMKV needs it to find the "main movie" on these particular disks; it normally would not load it unless it was needed, so other disks ...

Re: Unreadable MKV files
"Unreadable" using what for playback? Different players have different capabilities. Windows Media Player, for example, understands different codecs (audio and video) depending upon the version you have. VLC from videolan.org is not the "best" player out there anymore, but it doe...

Re: Cinavia Audio Protection - Need Help
Personally, I have a $50 media player that I use when I go "outside" with my video. It has HDMI and composite video outputs, a USB port to plug into, and manual controls that can be used if I forget/lose the remote. It understands all the formats I have and most of the audio codecs, so I d...

Re: Cinavia Audio Protection - Need Help
Whether or not Cinavia affects playback depends entirely on the playback device. In the big Cinavia thread in the general section, there are references to software that, under certain circumstances, can remove the audio "noise" that causes it. But the main thing to do is to NOT buy hardwar...
