Re: Newbie Questions
MakeMKV can run completely without an internet connection. If you purchase a key, it's for "lifetime", and you avoid having to enter a new beta key every couple of months. I have no clue how often AnyDVD updates. You can view the update history of MakeMKV here: /download/ You be the judge....
Re: The Void
MakeMKV should detect it if the disk is already decrypted, but that is almost unheard of in a commercial DVD. The debug messages received, though, should be meaningful to Mike, the software's author. The quickest way to get his attention is to email him at support@makemkv.com with a link to this top...
Re: The Void
Without seeing the debug information, it is VERY hard to say.

Re: Things to Come (2016)
What happens if you allow MakeMKV to open the disk automatically? It is possible that the manual choice points to an invalid collection of chapters. It's also possible that there is an error in the directory structure, either from a disk defect or something as simple as a fingerprint. Please follow ...

Re: The Man With The Golden Gun
The fact that the MakeMKV gets past so many of the bad areas, they seem to be transient, or, more precisely, marginally bad, and retries gets through them, most of the time. But, sometimes, it can't, and so the title is skipped. Have you cleaned the disk yet? Damp, soft cotton or microfiber cloth, n...

Re: Successful video rip: but variation in volume level
MakeMKV is ripping the audio tracks "as they are", unless you tell it to convert them to FLAC (free lossless audio codec). Without knowing what software you used for the other rips, I have no idea what that software did with the audio tracks. I have found that some players do weird things ...

Re: DVD's not saving?
If VLC can only play half the movie, there is likely a flaw in the disk, or a fingerprint. VLC will skip over minor errors (one or two sectors) when reading directly from the disk (it doesn't need any conversion to play DVDs). And handbrake will stop converting when it receives a bad sector error.

Re: DVD's not saving?
back in '14 when I posted my message, I had less experience with Disney disks, but, generally speaking, there are 2 or 3 copies of the movie present, identical except for the titles and credits, which will be in English, Spanish, and French. On Bluray, the "800" file is the English version...

Re: Remove subtitles from mkv?
Unfortunately, with JUST MakeMKV, it can't be done. If players actually used the "default" flag, it would be a different story. I've even thought about putting together a text-based, EMPTY subtitle track I could merge into files as the "first" subtitle track, to get around it. Bu...

Re: Ripping Star Wars Blu-Rays
Having just ripped episodes 1-7 and Rogue One in the last 45 days, I have the raw MKV files handy. I use this as part of my normal profile: <profileSettings app_DefaultSelectionString="-sel:all,+sel:(favlang|nolang),-sel:mvcvideo,=100:all,-10:favlang" /> For Rogue One, this recovered 5 aud...

Re: AACS 2.0 is cracked?
Until someone publishes code to do this, it would be hard for MakeMKV to "update" to do it. For all we know so far, they managed to obtain ONE key and crack ONE disk. Yes, that's a remarkable change from "No keys, no disks", but still not a general cracking.

Re: Ripping Star Wars Blu-Rays
Primary suggestion is to use expert mode and construct a profile (or at least a default selection rule) that pulls ALL audio tracks, not just the "best specification" track. MakeMKV CAN rip every track, but the default rule is to not grab all audio, just the ones most compatible with playb...

Re: Using Java Runtime Environment to get around obfuscation
I can't say how you tell on a Mac - I just know how it responds on Windows. I see NOTHING different in the opening screens, UNLESS I insert a disk with obfuscation, in which case there is more information displayed.

Re: how to rip the segments separately instead of one wholef
/manualdvd/
This ONLY works with DVDs.
The other option is to rip the whole thing, and use other means to separate the segments. I do this a lot, because everything I rip gets processed with handbrake, to make it smaller, and handbrake can break things up by chapter.

Re: Using Java Runtime Environment to get around obfuscation
Mike said it doesn't work on everything, but... he also asked that if you found something that it guessed wrong at, you should follow the steps in the first message of this topic: http://www.makemkv.com/forum2/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=14330 If Java is working and MakeMKV doesn't even offer a "fe...
