Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
are hdrplus10 and dovi rpu (i.e. not enhancement layers) metadata effectively similar information? could one conceptually convert one to the other? (i.e. assuming one has an hdr10 base, could one convert hdr10plus to give a dolby vision only tv dynamic metadata and vice versa for an hdr10plus tv). o...

Re: subpictures
note, that the above is just for DVDs. When these were made into blurays, many times they didn't use subtitle tracks to place the graphic on screen anymore, but used java code to do it (which means they can't be ripped with MakeMKV). Looking at The Breakfast Club's trivia track from recent memory.

Re: Why can't makemkv handle a simple error?
I have two different drives. It is sometimes the case that if a disc won't read in the LG WH16NS60 it will read in my ASUS BW-16D1HT. Occasionally it won't read in either, in which case I gently clean the disc. If it still won't read, I usually try to find another copy of the disc. I'm sure if I ad...

Re: Reliable Way to Determine "Episode Order" for TV Series Blu Ray Discs
this doesn't always work. I've seen discs where for instance, you might have 801 802 803 810 811 where 801/2/3 are episodes without commentary and 810/1 are episodes with commentary and mixed in. So one still has to watch. Personally, I've found the easiest/most reliable way is to simply pop up the ...

Re: Problems with integration in MC
that's what I said, MakeMKV doesn't always create backups that are usable for disc playback. Its not designed for it. The fact that it sometimes works is more of a happy accident than a design principle. i.e. even for non java discs, it wont remove region coding (though not so hard to remove it manu...

Re: Problems with integration in MC
MakeMKV doesn't create backups that can always be played with menus (i.e. java based discs with java based protections). It doesn't do anything to muck with the java code. If you want menus for a java based disc, you need to use a different tool.

Re: More Commentary issues
I am running in expert mode and see three audio tracks all three say "DD Stereo English" Can you please post the log file? I can think of two possible bugs: 1 - If MakemKV skips the non-commentary audio track (should be debug codes) 2 - Or if the playlist with comment-only tracks is selec...

Re: Use MakeMKV new integration with VLC to get correct playlist/segment list
Did anyone ever find out a solution here? I am currently ripping Soul, from Disney/Pixar, and it has 5 tracks that are exactly the same size and length, and thus only differs in the Title and end credits, which correlates with differences in the segment maps. So VLC is of no help to me to find the ...

Re: Assassin's Creed (2016) "corrupt or invalid at offset..."
if makemkv can read the disc without error, but can't read a decrypted iso you create (with a tool like anydvd or dvdfab presumably) then it would indicate a bug in said programs.

Re: Will Old Laptop Drives Work?
why wouldn't it? I've ripped with a desktop sata drive attached to a usb/sata cable (with external power). a laptop drive might not need the external power. With that said, have to have the right usb/sata cable. some only work with hard drives.

Re: Makemkv changes aspect ratio of DVD rip. How to fix it?
as I just documented here viewtopic.php?f=7&t=25853 its a bug in MakeMKV it really needs to follow the IFO.

Re: Can we get the option to disable a video track extraction?
it's not quite true. if reading from an optical disc, it probably doesn't make much of a difference (write speeds would be limited by read speed), but if reading from an ISO or decrypted backup, writing a huge amount less data would make the process significantly faster, especially if read/writing ...

Hi the beta key has expired (it only lasted until 31st July and its now 2nd August)....anyone know if a new one will be posted or is it out of beta? seriously. read what I wrote above. Either have patience or buy a key. if we're a week into august, you can ask the Q, but it could also simply be tha...

not respecting ifo aspect ratio
I have a DVD that is problematic (not just in MakeMKV) in that the ifo says its 16x9 (correct), but the VOBs list themselves as 4x3. Reading Doom9, it seems the DVD spec says to follow the IFO. Kodi does (i.e. plays it in widescreen), it seems VLC and MakeMKV do not. i.e. from mediainfo of the DVD $...
