Re: 3d Backup Issues
I believe some of the Realtek-based players can play these files. The new Sigma-powered Popcorn Hour A400, which is a full 3D player, should be released in November. We're still waiting for conformation from one of their engineers that it successfully plays these MKV files though, but it should defi...

Re: 3d Backup Issues
When MakeMKV creates a 3D MKV the video stream consists of the basic 2D video, plus the 3D MVC extension which supplies the stereo information. The MKV specification is written such that if a player can't play back 3D content it will (well, it should) ignore the MVC extension and just play the 2D co...

Re: 3d Backup Issues
Your player has to be able to identify and correctly handle a 3D MKV file. I don't believe the Boxee Box supports 3D, but I might be wrong.

Re: Old Version Available? - 1.7.0
I ripped an HD-DVD yesterday using 1.7.7. The problem with opening HD-DVDs that forced you to back to 1.7.0 has been long fixed.

Re: The Avengers Blu-ray forced subtitles
The BD-J code on the discs can choose the subtitle stream depending on which language you have chosen.
Quite why they choose to do this sometimes rather than use the forced flag I don't know, but some discs are just done this way. And because it's in code MakeMKV can't read it.

Re: Convert LPCM->FLAC, leave DTS-HD MA & TrueHD untouched
That worked perfectly. I just added a third profile for LPCM->FLAC that left TrueHD and DTS-HD alone so I could use either of the standard profiles or my own.
Works great!

Re: Add external audio source / Two Blu Rays into one
2) Where do you think you'd be able to find these (perrfectly synched) "3 or 4" audio tracks of yiour choice? Maybe even could combine video and some audio otrack from Blu Ray, and additional audio track from DVD? (It would be cheaper option, than buying 2 blu ray copies of all movies I w...

Re: Add external audio source / Two Blu Rays into one
You can also do it with MKVtoolnix, which is probably easier. If you know the synchronisation offsets you can define them in MKVtoolnix as well so you end up with the tracks still in sync after the merge. I've done this on a couple of concert DVDs where they've had the multi-channel on one side and ...

Convert LPCM->FLAC, leave DTS-HD MA & TrueHD untouched
I haven't played with custom conversion profiles yet as I really haven't had the need to, but now that MakeMKV can handle 24-bit FLAC conversion I'm wondering whether it's possible to set it to convert only LCPM tracks to FLAC, but to leave any DTS-HD (HRA or MA) and TrueHD tracks in their native fo...

Re: extract tract from BR to burn a new BR?
I don't know how you can do this with MakeMKV since this is designed to just generate MKV output, but I do know another way of doing it. DVDFab, last time I looked, has an option to extract the main movie only as an ISO, and by default it will automatically loop. You can also do this with the demo v...

Re: Iron Man forced subtitles says empty after rip
Forced subs don't actually have to be flagged as forced within the main language subtitle track, so in these cases they exist in a separate subtitle stream and are turned on automatically by the BD-J code in the disc itself. They aren't nearly as common as flagged forced subs, but some discs use the...

That problem was fixes ages ago. 1.7.7 should work with HD-DVDs as well.
