You've probably got your external drive formatted in FAT32, which has a filesize limit of 4GB.
You need to reformat in NTFS or one of the other formats that allows for large files.

Re: ...the story of the 2 black strips
The black strips are actually encoded in the original video stream since all 1080i/p Blu-rays are actually stored at 1920x1080 on disc regardless of the aspect ratio of the movie they contain. Since MakeMKV doesn't process the video stream at all it can't remove them as that would require re-encodin...

Re: If you had to choose
Crowfax hit the nail on the head for me. The only subtitle thing I think would be useful for me would be for HD-DVDs where the subs could benefit from being converted to 'proper' PGS subs with bdsup2sub. At present I have to use eac3to to extract the subs from the original EVO files since eac3to can...

Or, more likely, your RedBox disc has already been badly handled by previous renters.
And discussion of ripping rentals is verboten here (presuming this isn't a disc you actually purchased from RedBox).

Re: Player or Programm to see the complete subtitles?
My question is: Is there a player/programm which can list me a complete subtitle track from mkv-file, so that I can read the subtitles and choose which is the correct track? Not that I've heard of, but it would be really useful. In cases like this I use eac3to to extract the subtitle tracks from th...

You can right-click and then choose unselect all. It's almost as good.

Re: The Hunger Games BD, which chapters to choose
What are these multiple titles I see on almost ever BD I rip? They are often fake titles with the segments rearranged so the movie will appear to have the correct overall length but if you were to play it you'd get chunks of it in the wrong order. Sometimes the fake ones will have a slightly longer...

Re: BUG? Language codes for English streams not correctly se
If it bothers you just use the MKVtoolnix header editor to enable the language flag again afterwards. It only takes a moment and doesn't require re-muxing.
Lots of tools choose to omit it when it's English as that's a specified default in the MKV format, as has already been stated.

Re: Region B
Yes, the drives themselves aren't region coded. Be careful that the region B version has the same quality of audio codecs, etc. in it. There have been a number of instances where the US gets a dual-layer disc with lossless audio and the UK gets a single layer with more video compression and a non-lo...

Re: Can rip DVD but only in 1 file
If your 7 episodes are all contained in the one file then it's a strangely mastered DVD and there isn't a whole lot MakeMKV can do. In these circumstances you can use MKVtoolnix to split the MKV at specific timecodes, corresponding to the chapters where you want the breaks to be. You basically use t...

mkvtoolnix can cut at a timecode as well, so that's probably your easiest solution.

You can still run a testdump and end up with a compressed file to send. Check the FAQ.

Re: WTF...?? Makemkv says it only finds 5 gig on my 2 tb dr
It sounds like it's FAT32 which gives you a 4GB maximum individual file size limit.
Time to reformat as NTFS I would imagine.
