Re: SlySoft DEAD
The servers for MakeMKV are in St. Petersburg, Russia. From a hosting standpoint, applicable law would be Russian. His payment processing company is in the US, so that might be a problem, but that could be changed. Does MakeMKV have any dependencies on other projects? No clue. But I doubt anything ...

Re: 4:3 video looks bad
I have had zero luck with Handbrake's Decomb option, with a wide variety of test matter it never seems to deinterlace anything. For Deinterlace, their guide is 4 years old and never been updated. I use the "Slower" option there. Tested all the others with mixed results, with Bob creating t...

Re: Question about Tarzan BR
Disney's Animated feature Tarzan is indeed 5.0.
I emailed Disney about this error and got a dumbfounded "we don't make mistakes" response, but I already knew the UK version is 5.0 as well.

Re: Are there any recommendations for BD Drives?
Name brand - Pioneer Off brand Name - LiteOn Have had wonderful results from both over the many years of owning optical devices. Some "name brand" drives are actually LiteOn drives (not the case with Pioneer.) Of my LG experiences, they tend to die over a short period of time after their f...

Re: "Parasite" disc - CSS Sectors scanned in bits and pieces
Just used Dvd Fab - when the program went to analyze the disc, the drive spun up to full speed and maintained that speed until the program analyzed title 1, then the program was in ready mode as it awaited my instructions on which title(s) I wanted to rip. Just ripped the title and have verified it ...

"Parasite" disc - CSS Sectors scanned in bits and pieces
Anyone know what it means when a disc on initial load takes literally an hour to scan? The disc is "Parasite" - the program literally takes it in bits and pieces. The CSS Sectors scan portion completely stops, the drive spins back up, it advances another hundred or so, drive spins down, 5 ...

Re: Stargate SG-1 Season 4 Volume 5 Episode 22 Chapter 5 Mis
As someone that ripped these discs very recently, I seem to recall there being some sort of repeatable error during the rip process, but it appeared to workaround it. Can I say for certain it was this specific disc or episode, no. But it's odd it was only one disc in particular. When I finished codi...

Any new format presents all new copy protection standards in place. You can bet it will likely be YEARS before any viable option is available.

Re: How much longer is MakeMKV going to be in beta?
When something goes to "release" version, features are "locked in". Changes are only to fix bugs. An example is the project handbrake.... Their current release version does not have several features that are present in the "nightly build" versions, which represent the ...

Re: Why is video aspect off?
Often times this issue is because the MKV file has the video data, but the actual IFO file on the disc tells the player the display a specific width. When you play the disc in a regular player the IFO file tells the player to display the image a 854 pixels wide. Even though the display output is onl...

Re: No sound from Blu Ray
Two solutions for your computer;
1) Get a Codec pack, such as K-Lite from free-codecs.com - This is one of the most complete and easy to install codec packs
2) Try KODI player. It is a player that uses minimal codecs.

Re: Missing title Shaun the Sheep? (or how to get right one)
As title 22, 24 and 27 have the same segment map either one should work.
It has been my experience however that when VLC reports a specific title and the title is missing from makemkv, it is usually the next title UP. When you click on title 24 it might indicate it really is title 23.

Re: Possible new bug, 1.9.8 - Dvd disc loading
Thanks mike for your input. And yes it is easy to blame the drive. But when all other aspects of accessing the disc work 100%, such as browsing the disc via windows explorer or loading the movie into VLC or Windvd, it makes me question the validity of assuming the drive is to blame.

Re: .mkv file won't play in LG Blu-ray player BD570
Certain Samsung players have issues with 1:1 mkv rips. I have seen remuxing them with Mkvtoolnix fix the problems in some cases. This is not a fault of makemkv but rather the Samsung player. The end result is all that matters I guess.
Are you able to access the file itself or is the drive too big?

Re: "Cinavia" watermark protection
Adding more to the topic as it may be relevant. They say Cinavia is in the audible range. They say if you have a Cinavia compliant camcorder and try to record a movie in the movie theater, it too will shut down after 20 seconds. If Cinavia is in the audible range, what does it sound like? Is it ruin...
