Re: Gandhi
It's interesting that some of these titles now have to be split onto multiple UHD discs. Do you guys plan on ultimately merging the containers into one? Definitely. Just waiting for MKVTOOLNIX to add support for DV so I can merge the two MKV's. Hello, have you successfully merged Gandhi together in...

Re: Dolby Vision and 1.15.1
Disappointed to see the new version of MediaInfo still doesn't identify DV in MKV containers. The wait continues... Agreed. It's kind of weird that 4 months have passed since v20.03 was released and now a new version is released without this support. Unless a lot of effort is required to add this D...

Re: Dolby Vision and 1.15.1
Hi there, Mkvtoonix has been updated to support DV when muxing with version 49. We now need official Plex support :D Kind Regards Great news! Looking forward to testing this and seeing it how it works with MakeMKV remuxes and vice-versa. We are so close. While Yuescope is doing and incredible job g...

Re: Official Dolby Vision MKV spec support
So, 1.15.3 will be able to open DV MKV's created with 1.15.1 and save them to a new MKV containing the updated DV approach. That is good news and should save some time for those who already remuxed some titles that way. Will 1.15.3 allow opening and saving of DV MKV's created with 1.15.2 since the ...

Re: Dolby Vision and 1.15.1
PLEX RUNNING DOLBY VISION AND ATMOS VIA KODI USING THE NEW APK FROM THIS THREAD: It's FAR from perfect, but I made video showing the following with the 2019 Shield Link to the video is at the very bottom : - How to do it (after altering the playcorefactory.xml file for Kodi, it's easier than you th...

Re: Official Dolby Vision MKV spec support
Stupid question, but if I want Dolby Vision support, do i need to re-rip all my UHD's? Unfortunately, yes. In theory 1.15.1 did preserve DV data, but was putting DV metadata in an intermediate format. And what's worse, 1.15.2 can't open its own generated MKV files (with respect to dolby vision). In...

Re: Dolby Vision and 1.15.1
Hello beautiful people! Just a small update: I revised my code (Exoplayer) after the release of version 1.15.2. @shawnc22 has just tested (on the new Shield) an apk that i have prepared. The mkv test file is played correctly and Dolby Vision is successfully triggered. In the next few days I will re...

Re: Dolby Vision and 1.15.1
1.15.2 Implements the latest method for storing DV metadata (per new spec) and has a fix for invalid layer id (spotted by yusesope). In theory, this should be a "final working" version. Let's see if other tools will pick it up... Great work and thanks for the quick turnaround! Now we're j...

Re: Ripping Dolby Atmos into MKV
HI cipher, I will wait for the hotfix, but in truth, I don't think it will solve it from new evidence I've seen. For Shield owners running native Shield apps and the native Plex client this "fixed position dropout" issue was resolved a few months back. For example, Shield2019 users had th...

Re: Ripping Dolby Atmos into MKV
I have the same problem with Frozen II during the "Into the Unknown" song. I don't know the exact time it happens, but it occurs when the background is all black and Elsa is doing the various designs with particle effects. I think it happens right around when Elsa makes particles that tak...

Re: Dolby Vision and 1.15.1
Any idea if the new software clients from Plex/Kodi etc will allow us to select HDR10 instead of DV for certain titles? I'm thinking of cases where there was a poor implementation of DV and the HDR10 layer does a better job with the video. Yes, most TV's come with the option to turn Dolby Vision On...

Re: Ripping Dolby Atmos into MKV
That is the same location of "fixed position" dropouts that one or more of Exoplayer/Shield updates fixed. It looks like the Kodi devs haven't addressed this in their player yet.

Re: Ripping Dolby Atmos into MKV
This issue has been bothering me more than it should over the last few months, so I ended up writing my own tool because still no demuxer (including MakeMKV 1.15.1) handles TrueHD flawlessly. https://github.com/domyd/mlp The core issue was never Atmos or high bitrate. It is simply caused by demuxer...
