Re: Pioneer BDR-208D

Pioneer drives are rip-locked at 2X. Even installing Windows will top out at 2X. Nothing you can do, as Pioneer themselves set the lock on the drive. I gave up on Pioneer and went back to LG, which has fantastic rip speeds. Older LG drives can be unlocked to read even faster. Get an LG 16X BH16NS40....

Re: TRUEHD AUDIO

MakeMKV doesn't re-encode the track, it just copies it into the MKV container.

If your player doesn't support it, then it doesn't support it.

I'd recommend a WD TV Live as it plays everything.

Re: MakeMKV picks wrong LPCM codec-id

I ended up using mkvextract to extract the LPCM audio and eac3to to convert to individual WAVs and then convert to DTS-HD Master Audio using the encoding suite by Sony that I use for video editing. Converted all my Criterion titles to DTS-HD MA with core bitrates that are as close as possible to the...

Unable to open ISO for Man of Steel 3D trailer

http://videos.movie-list.com/vob/Rugal2 ... MA_5.1.iso

I'd like to remux the Man of Steel 3D trailer, but MakeMKV is unable to open it because it can't identify the key.

I was able to rip it with mkvmerge, but lost the MVC option in the process.

Re: Lord of the Rings from Blu Ray stutters

Lord of the Rings play fine for me...took me awhile to make them too since I cut then joined Parts 1 and 2 of each film to make one file for each. They all play fine. I suspect your network can't handle the load.

Feature Request: Contact Online Database for Movie Info

Contact an online movie/tv series database for info on the disc inserted or opened. Display information while ripping...makes the program look nicer and less plain. A quick mockup. Took 2 seconds. MakeMKVhang_zps6e9d609f.jpg If someone can create a cooler mockup, then be my guest. Comments below. Le...

Re: Feature Requests

New feature request...

Kind of a useless feature, but it looks cool during the ripping process. Use online database to show cover, info of movie/tv show being ripped.

Took 2 seconds to make this mockup...so don't shoot me.

Re: Why does the read speed take so long to reach max?

10X is a great speed for optical drives, if you're talking about DL BDs. Pioneer's drives are locked at 2X, and LG drives hit 8X (10X unlocked).

Re: Aspect Ratio is always 16:9

Blu-rays are not anamorphic like DVDs. They're always 16:9 and letterboxed if the ratio is different, for example 1.66:1, where you'll have small black bars on the sides, or 1.85:1, small black bars on the top and bottom of the screen.

Re: No Subtitles on MKV files created from Bluray, DVD Files

Run the file through mkvmerge and it will add zlib compression for the PGS subtitles. WDTV Live does not display subtitles without zlib compression.

Re: Supernatural: Season 2 - Not separate episodes?

I had the same problem with FRINGE Season 1. It created one file, then I used mkvmerge to split the files using the timecodes for the chapters that began new episodes. It came out perfect, but required a few extra steps. I also had to rename Chapters again in mkvmerge.

Re: Feature Requests

MKToolnix also defaults to compressing PGS subs which suggests that compressed subs are more compatible (WD's ineptitude notwithstanding). Last I read they turned off all compression in the last few updates of mkvmerge. Everything is compatible now. Guess they figured it was useless too. Not a majo...
