Re: The Abyss 4K

You're encountering errors in reading. Two possibilities - dirty disk, or drive trying to read faster than it has power to do.

Is this a USB-powered drive?

please share here how to fix this issue?
Return the defective drives for replacement. There really isn't any other "fix" for a defective drive.

Re: Bypass errors

"There are no scratches on the disk" means nothing - anything that interferes with reading the bits is a problem. Fingerprints, for example, or even minor smudges. That's why "clean the disk" is a standard response here. MakeMKV does not have a "bypass mode". It tries t...

Re: DVD Rip Speeds?

Updating the firmware will do nothing to speed up DVD reading. It uses a different laser than BD or UHD, so it doesn't affect it. I should qualify that - if you're seeing riplock with the original firmware (rare!), the new firmware could disable it. But riplock would lock your speed to 2x, not allow...

Re: Ripping 4K UHD with ASUS BW-16D1H-U Pro

What year? What does MakeMKV say about it, especially about its UHD capabilities?

The BW-16D1H-U has changed drives over the years. Early ones aren't UHD. Later ones need to have new firmware.

Re: MakeMKV Not Working

Are you trying to use the key that is "built in" to the file you downloaded, or the one posted in the forum each time it changes? It DOES change every 60 days, which is why it's posted.

Re: No Disc Backup for HD-DVDs?

Each 60 days, a new key is generated for non-registered users . It is NOT put in the existing download file; that is updated when the program is, not when the key is. Sometimes, the key is not generated exactly when the old one expires. That does happen. Those who rely on not registering have to scr...

Clean the disks. They may look clean, but they need cleaned. Your drive is having trouble reading them.

Re: Do I need to change my firmware?

What it is reading isn't different, so firmware change doesn't help anything. What is possible is that the lens is getting dirty, or the mechanism is getting inaccurate, which firmware won't help. Cleaning the lens assembly is probably the biggest issue, but that's mostly when it stops reading ANY d...

Re: Do I need to change my firmware?

Question 1: Is it working?
Question 2: There really isn't a question 2.

If it is working, why update?

"Help" in what way? You're replying to a message about supplying a dump file for that title, not that he's ripped it.

Re: His Girl Friday .tgz

Did you submit a .tgz file, generated by MakeMKV, to svq@makemkv.com , so that a key can be created for it?

It is very difficult to tell from your post.

Re: UHD VID inside discatt.dat and discattd.dat

The files are used for MakeMKV to track information it needs for processing the disk. They aren't likely to "be" anything else.

They're created for the Windows version as well. Probably the Mac version too.

For suggestion 2, try right-clicking on the left-side menu, and select "Unselect all". For suggestion 1, the title length is available in the "Info" section, under "Title information". It isn't part of the left-hand menu, because it's from reading a different portion of...

Re: "The Menu" Deliberate Bad Blocks... [SOLVED]

No, MakeMKV will always try to give a complete copy of the files. If there are errors, the copy will be rejected.

If you are tolerant of errors, then cleaning the disk to remove the errors is probably your best bet.
