Re: Failing to finalise files on Samba share

Yep, Your running into a speed (meaning network overflow, destination hard disk speed VS cache / OS caching VS writing) / sync issue. You'll be fine with the smaller files and such, but to be honest you really shouldn't be ripping directly to a share anyways. As at any time you could get a nic error...

Re: Failing to finalise files on Samba share

Can you try it with a DVD and see if you have the same issue. I'm thinking you won't, but it would be nice to know.

Re: Combining multiple titles to one movie.mkv file

While I agree it would be a nice option to have, You can simply join two or more MKV files together rather easily using mkvmerge. 1. open the main MKV in mkvmergeGUI 2. Click on "append" in the upper right . 3. Select the next MKV in the order you want. 4. Repeat Steps 2 though 3 until you...

Re: the file is to big

1. MakeMKV this is post does not support filters. 2. MakeMKV only takes the selected streams and saves them to into a MKV file(s). 3. Handbrake, Xvid4PSP, Super, etc. Are all 3rd party programs that will/can act on a MKV produced by MakeMKV. Here is a simple run down (example) of how to compress a t...

Re: The times they are achangin' - UPDATE

I'm locking this thread, as it really in no way falls in line with the main ideals of what seem to define this forum. Or to put it another way this thread as no redeeming qualities in regards to either helping or enlightening the "Group". This is in no way a reflection upon anyones "i...

Re: Improve Audio

DVD audio streams contain a volume level, most DVDs have there volume level set to be negative. AVI(s) along with most other formats do not store this kind of info. So there sound will can louder, quieter, or the same as a DVD or other file that does have this info. Then on top of that it's up to th...

Re: Playing blu-ray rip with LPCM on HTPC

1) Would the LPCM-->FLAC conversion be lossless? I'm wanting to store everything in its original quality. Yes FLAC stands for Free Lossless Audio Codec, an audio format similar to MP3, but lossless, meaning that audio is compressed in FLAC without any loss in quality. This is similar to how Zip wor...

Re: Different problems with BD390!!!

I think if you look at it from a different angle it'll help make more sense. Lots of people have posted issues with codec compatability with the MKV but nobody else seams to have such a basic problem jsut playing MPEG2s The Issue isn't the mpeg2, but the container it's it. Think of the MKV format li...

If you could, try to remux the MKv with mkvmergeGUI. And see if you still have the issues.

Re: How to rip MKV from double-sided DVD?

Agreed with out argument, but the info wasn't just for bertmk. As the Title was about "double sided DVD" ripping. The Info might be useful for any one looking into appending two MKV's. But, the same info & tips could (and IMHO should be ) applied to *any* joined or appended discs/mkvs/...

Re: How to rip MKV from double-sided DVD?

Notes about appending: 1. All video should each be re-encode (if one is going to do this) separately before appending, this helps insure audio/video & sub titles syncing. 2. To create a clean MKV from 2 joined files. You should strive to ensure each file is as close to perfect as far as starting...
