Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.

Also, is there are difference in HDR quality when choosing a, say, MDL 10000 over 4000? Yes, 4000 MDL looks much darker vs 1000. As for the metadata, the L1 max and min are the same but the avg is not calculated the same. Trims are also different. see: https://slow.pics/c/xlgE3H1t I also cannot see...

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.

if you input a folder and no config file is found, it will ask you for a MDL and L5 which will be used for all the videos in the folder. If the videos in your folder are cropped, the script won't ask you about it and will automatically set L5 to 0 https://i.ibb.co/2hFgBJG/Windows-Terminal-f-ANT6-Wg-...

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jBqbG5XM54g if your folder with files all have the same MDL and Active area, you don't have to provide external config files. PS: please ask your dovi_scripts questions on doom9 official support thread: https://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=185317 I'll eventually s...

Tmin=0 doesn't do anything with the raised black in DoVi on LG Oleds.
good to know thanks... Strange how the DV engine works differently in LLDV for that aspect.

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.

7-1 would be a waste of time for a MEL input. You can use 7-2 instead(it works for single input too).

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.

Ok i think i figured out why positive trim offset is ignored in TV-LED HDMI source. That value is the ''lift'' control in Resolve and unlike slope(gamma?) and power(gain?) , offset(lift) metadata will raise black bars if higher than 0.025(2100 in 12bit pq) and if the device doesn't use L5. So this m...

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.

@RESET_9999 Is it okay to split and later merge DV mkv files. Does it cause any issues? I don't know, I never tried but if you don't remove any frames I guess it should be fine? Sometimes I have to trim the start of a video and after, I always verify if my first frame still starts with a scene cut.

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.

When trying to grade HDR in DaVinci, the preview looks washed out (I have a 4K HDR monitor). Is there any way to get a proper preview without any specific hardware? If not, what is the most budget friendly option? hey, I know you asked about this a while ago but even though the Resolve manual says ...

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.

@RESET_9999 I was doing some SDR to HDR conversion. When I exported the DV XML file, it has some L2 and L3 trims. Should I keep those or remove? It's up to you. I prefer removing all the trims as they can have an undesired effect (darken or brighten too much). made a couple of test files about that...

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.

Is there a way to disable tone mapping in Movies & TV app or energy player with MSFT HW video decoder, and pass through HDR10 metadata? Or do I have to use MPV for passing through HDR10 and switch to MSFT HW video decoder for tone mapping DV content? no i think the OS HDR always sends incorrect...

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.

I've had to use a 10x jeweler's loupe to see the first couple steps immediately above black (on a C9 and A95K - I'm not as critical of my C8 or C2 because of how I use them)... are you using a high-end colorimeter to measure certain stimulus levels? seeing steps? I'm not talking about black crush i...

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.

I doubt it. Was raised on my C8, and it's still raised on my C2.
C8 was worse though and the white balance trick didn't work on my end.
