Re: Kung Fu Panda (2008) 4K UHD Dump Submitted
Ok this is interesting. Thank you so much for this info! I was able to pull a SHA-1 value from my "7EE4" version of KFP. That value is bf30b09b73c5833795e013d65ad36d50f6ad4b76. I searched for that in keydb.cfg (which I just downloaded fresh a few minutes ago) and I get a match BUT... it s...

Re: Kung Fu Panda (2008) 4K UHD Dump Submitted
So, if I'm reading keydb.cfg correctly, that means there are at least 3 versions of this movie and mine is not currently covered? Is there a more in-depth explanation somewhere on how to read/understand the keydb.cfg format for laypeople? (I don't imagine that's available in this forum since makemk...

Re: Issue after reading a few 4K UHD Blu-Rays
Yea, no kidding. :( Even "gentle cleaning" or even more "vigorous cleaning" is no guarantee. I'm having a disc replaced as we speak for the very same reason. Brand new out of the box and cleaned, still can't read in any of my drives. So yes, it happens, no matter how "clean ...

Re: The Abyss 4K
I completely understand. I was also looking forward to it. Looks like it could be an MFG defect possibly. We'll have to see if more people have issues with theirs. That would not be good for any of us if so. Maybe it's just a few isolated bad discs. That'd be better. P.S. For those waiting to rip th...

That's the one I have and it seems to be in the keydb and I was able to back it up.

Re: The Abyss 4K
I can't read mine, either. I use Pioneer drives and a bu40n and cleaned the living snikes out of it and can't get a clean read. It's getting replaced....um, eventually. Since it's out of stock literally everywhere that may be a while. I'm annoyed. And Aliens still hasn't shipped nor do I even have a...

Re: KEYDB.cfg, Disc Identifiers and MakeMKV dumps
The disc ID in keydb.cfg is a sha1 hash of the unit_key_ro.inf file in the aacs directory. As for how makemkv generates their id that gets added to the tgz dump, I've no idea. If you want to learn about aacs... https://aacsla.com/aacs-specifications/ Start reading. Sent from my SM-S928U1 using Tapat...

Re: Wonka 4k Dump Submitted
You have to download the keydb.cfg file (search the interwebthingies, you'll find it) and then drop it into your MakeMKV's data directory (see, preferences, general tab). Once you do that, if there's an entry for your title, it'll open fine. Holy crap that worked. Didn't realize it was that easy. T...

Re: Makemkv is useless
And if you enable LIbreDrive, bus encryption ceases to become a problem. Again, the only thing that REALLY matters is the unit keys and the disc ID. All the other information is wholly irrelevant.

Re: Makemkv is useless
EVERY UHD contains bus encryption so that's pointless. The only thing that REALLY matters is the decryption key(s) and the disc ID. It's not like you get to see all that great information from MakeMKV's hashed keys which are embedded and encrypted.

Re: Makemkv is useless
Because as kuel as the keydb is, and it is very very awesome, it's user generated. Meaning it requires people to upload keys. And that's hardly comprehensive of every single disc that someone may encounter. Whereas submitting a dump to MakeMKV submits the data necessary to always (AACS 2.1 notwithst...

Re: Makemkv is useless
It's helpful but ultimately unnecessary to have FindVUK. You can download the keydb directly from the website. FindVUK just makes it easier to keep it up to date.

Re: Makemkv is useless
That makes the assumption that the .makemkv location hasn't been changed by the user. You should go into settings, general tab and see what the default directory is set to. And if it's not set, try setting it.
