Re: What are you streaming to that supports forced subtitles
Any time you recode the video and audio, you lose some quality, because (with few exceptions) you start with data that has already been compressed using lossy codecs. That's not the reason though. You lose quality because you're using a lossy codec for output, not input. If you don't mind your outp...

Just provide a few-seconds sample that reproduces the issue, and I'll forward it as required.tribunal88 wrote:Any ideas on whom should be contacted about this issue? MPC? ffmpeg?

Re: Repeatable audio glitches on certain Blu-rays
It *might* be a libavcodec bug.

What settings did you use, audio passthrough (default profile) or the FLAC profile? Something else?

Re: MKV / SRT Issue
I remember there being discussion a couple of years ago here about a lot of PGS subtitles not having end times on them. That would be 100% of them. They're either cleared by a blank subtitle or by the next subtitle. As for forced subtitles, the trickiest situation is when a forced subtitle is clear...

Yes in the case of DTS-HD. No in the case of Dolby TrueHD.eddified wrote:Does selecting both the child and parent streams cause the title to take more space on the HDD than it took on the BD?

I was under the impression it's at least a semi-custom solution? Plex Media Server can serve content via DLNA, but its DLNA support can be disabled in preferences, and any native Plex clients still work…Woodstock wrote:Chromecast is NOT required to watch from a DLNA server (which is what Plex is)

Re: DTS-MA to FLAC fails in 1.9.0 for some titles
given I've been using a pretty old version, is it worth re-converting the DTSMA tracks to FLAC again? have no idea the change-log from 1.1.0.1 to 1.1.0.8, but clearly there have been changes! It's either lossless or it isn't, so no need to re-convert the tracks that were already successfully conver...

Yes, it's the official Mac app of MediaInfo. There's a freeware version, but the one on the App Store is much nicer…Mathmos wrote:Thanks Chetwood, is Mediainfo the app available on the App Store? I tried posting a link but the post wouldn't show.

Re: MKVs with VC1 codec
Speeding up conversion from VC-1 to H.264 is a matter of adjusting the encoding settings. You can select faster settings (at the expense of lower compression efficiency). A good way to speed things up is to encode using CRF: it provided identical compression efficiency as 2-pass but only requires on...

Re: A question about DTS-HD Master Audio tracks.
Finally, I'm a little confused as to how an extension can take something that is LOSSY and covert it to LOSSLESS. I thought lossy meant that you have compressed something and permanently lost data. The extension is encoded at the same time as the lossy core, so the encoder has access to the lossles...
