PGS subs are part of the official BluRay standard. There's no reason not to support them, unless of course you are Apple. Tough luck.osohardy wrote:PGS subs are a pain, especially on mac

OR a decent player like VLC that properly reads the flag from the MKV, or am I missing something here?robpdotcom wrote:but if you want the subs to be identified by a filter that can pick out forced subs (such as the MPC-BE subtitle renderer), then you need to use BDSup2Sub on the Avatar subs.

Why waste time demuxing/remuxing subs when you can simply do it via header editor?

Re: forced subtitle issue solved
Simply uncheck the first two subtitle and forced tracks and then click the makemkv button and voila you will now have the movie with the force subtitles. Not necessarily cause not all forced subs are flagged as forced, as explained here . Playback is also much less of a hassle if you simply use VLC.

Re: makemkvcon and removing the subtitles
No need to fiddle with command-lines when you can use Handbrake & Co. Also, VobSubs on DVDs are usually < 10 MB so it wouldn't make much of a difference keeping them.

Re: makemkvcon and removing the subtitles
Subs are usually small and turned off so why not keep them?
