Re: Am I missing Closed Captions with 2.6.3 ??
Interesting that the example you chose to display does not incorporate the almost standard black background for Closed caption display... It's not "standard" or even "almost standard". Captions are just embedded text along with formatting and positioning info. If you're used to ...

Re: Am I missing Closed Captions with 2.6.3 ??
From what I understand, closed-captions are stored as data in the MPEG-2 video stream. For storage in the MKV output, I'd assume that MakeMKV would need a capability to extract the text-data and the start & stop times for the caption fom the MPEG-2 stream. Or it could just not damage the captio...

Re: Am I missing Closed Captions with 2.6.3 ??
MakeMKV presently can't extract closed captions. Not extracting them is fine. We don't need them separated. But MakeMKV is doing something while converting that makes the embedded CC stream unplayable. If I take my new Hogan's Heroes DVDs and rip them with MakeMKV, there are no captions. However, i...

Re: Enhancing multiple concurrent disc rips
Or there could simply be an option to never auto-scan in the GUI. There are too many circumstances that arise (in my case, anyway) for a generic CLI script to work.bassinayatei wrote:You can use the CLI to do the rips.

Re: Enhancing multiple concurrent disc rips
MakeMKV should remember the drive that was last used, it should not automatically change drives unless I manually select the other drive. And it should not scan ANY drives when it is first opened. I rip my DVDs to ISO and then process the ISOs later with Make MKV. So all I want MakeMKV to do is all...

Re: List of DVD/BluRay that haven't worked
All 3 discs of The Jeffersons Season Five give errors. They play fine, and they convert by muxing the VOBs with MKVMerge with no issue (I noticed doing it with MKVMerge keeps closed captions that ffdshow can decode - if this is possible with MakeMKV, I'd love to know how). I've tried MakeMKV's nativ...

Re: How really fast does it convert?
As you were guessing, it depends on your system configuration... Well, no kidding. EVERYTHING you do on a computer depends on your "system configuration." Many factors play into it, the least of which is your processor. Dual-layer discs will obviously take longer than single-layer discs. ...

Re: Feature requests
I didn't realize that MakeMKV was ever supposed to be a one-step process. For me, it's always been a method to lift the movie from the Blu-Ray so that it can be encoded in Handbrake or some other "final stage" software. While Handbrake can't use TrueHD (yet) either, it can convert DTS or ...

Re: 23.976 fps
As far as problem #2, this is also not an issue with MakeMKV. Bulletproof is an example of a DVD that doesn't have the right aspect ratio when made into an MKV. Editing the header doesn't help, nor does demuxing and remuxing with MKVToolNix. However, demuxing with TSMuxer and remuxing with MKVToolNi...

Re: Feature Request - File Split by Chapter
I've slapped something together in Visual Basic to automate this tedious chore. I'm sure my code would be laughed at by actual programmers (see code block below), but it works. I assume you will need the latest Microsoft .NET framework for this to work. I've tested it on Windows 7 & XP and it wo...

Re: A few failed DVD's
This thread reminded me of a handful of DVDs I had ripped a while back that MakeMKV didn't like. I stuck them in a "problems" folder so I could submit all the logs at once and promptly forgot about them. So I fired up the latest MakeMKV today and every last one of them worked! For the reco...

Re: Suggestion: prefs for which checkboxes to auto-check
Guys, you all know about right-click on title tree and selecting "uncheck all" from a popup menu, rrright? :) And it still doesn't work right. Sling Blade Blu-ray has 20+ language subtitles, and "unselect all" only unchecks the main branch for each. The forced subs all stay chec...

Re: Which Title / Unchecked Audio?
First I completely understand why you want the DTS (core) stream only. I just don't understand why you would want (or could even have short of masking) the DTS-HD (core+extension) stream only, without the DTS (core). That's what I was trying to get across. It doesn't seem to make sense to have the ...
