Re: What audio formats to choose
But that audio is encoded with a codec, and if your player does not support that codec, it cannot play it.

Re: Popping noises on audio - Les Demoiselles de Rochefort
Some of the advanced profiles (such as the FLAC profile) can optionally transcode the audio, which is why I ask. The standard or default profile, though, isn't supposed to do anything but copy the tracks after decryption.

Are you using a profile other than "default" when ripping? This assumes you've enabled Expert mode and are using profiles...

Re: What audio formats to choose
Um, you quoted my answer to you a couple of days ago. Maybe if I rephrase it? If you select ONLY the DTS-HD MA track in your example, there is ONLY one audio track. That track is the "full" DTS-HD MA track. If your player cannot handle it, you will have no audio. Selecting the "DTS Su...

Re: CC (close captioned) stripped out
True closed caption is part of the video stream, and not a separate track. However, not all players can handle CC streams. And it is a known limitation of most versions of handbrake (possibly all; I haven't asked recently) that the CC track disappears when you process the video. You might have the s...

Re: Popping noises on audio - Les Demoiselles de Rochefort
What does VLC list for the audio codec information (Ctrl-I in most versions) ?
On DVDs, you should not be using any audio translation in MakeMKV, so what you get in the MKV file should be the same as on the DVD.
What happens if you play the DVD through VLC (VLC can play DVDs directly) ?

Re: Newbie Question About AV Sync for DTS/DTS-MA
It is possible, but USUALLY in situations like this, the video lags the audio. The question is whether or not Plex is having an issue converting the lossless data stream for the Roku, or the Roku is having an issue playing it.
Do you have another device that can access the plex server?

Re: 3D MVC Option
Have you sent an email to support@makemkv.com about this? I remember Mike posting that 1.10.4 "fixed" a problem with MVC, but if it wasn't fixed (or it came back in .5), he should know about it. And email's the fastest way to guarantee that...

Re: High Data Rates
The data rate in the MKV file is the data rate that was on the disk. Since MakeMKV does not convert video, that's what you get. If your DLNA server cannot handle the bandwidth, then post-processing is a good option. My experience with DLNA servers is that the ones built into routers are just too slo...

"Volume key unknown" errors are usually traceable to being unable to read parts of the directory structure of the disk. Were there errors prior to that line?

Look at the studio that is releasing the video. If it's Lionsgate, assume obfuscation. If not, it probably is very straight forward.

Re: MKV vs MP4
Short answer, YES. Longer answer, "Smart" is a relative term, and "smart TVs" are only smart when compared to regular monitors. The manufacturers will tag them as "Smart" if they can play web content, which uses a small subset of video formats. Sony TVs are somewhat LES...

Re: MakeMKV crashing on system shutdown
Based on what happens when you click "stop" during an encode, I would guess this is "normal" - the MakeMKV GUI calls the command line program to do the actual ripping, and it doesn't respond instantly to stop requests. It will attempt to finish the current operation before asking...

Re: Just installed newest version, still says it's too old
If you've been using the Bluray functions for more than 30 days, you have to restart the clock by re-entering the beta key, or buying a non-expiring key. DVD functionality will work as long as the key hasn't expired, but BD functionality has a 30-day limit.

I'd suggest emailing Mike at support@makemkv.com and giving him a link to this topic. That's the best way to get his attention.
