Re: State of the art 4k movies from a technical view

Pretty much all of the main 4K nature documentaries that I can think of include animals, not just landscapes. In your first post you said your primary goal is best technical quality, and you mention testing a TV for quality. There is no shortage of excellent technical quality with native 4K in UHD m...

Re: Extracting both movies from a 2-in-1

According to the back cover, the UK release contains both cuts.

From a quick look, I can't verify that any of the other releases do.

Re: Reducing file size

Which is the point of MakeMKV, to losslessly create an MKV of the Blu-ray content.

Note that the total size does include all audio tracks, and you likely won’t want all of them.

As Woodstock mentioned, Handbrake.fr is pretty much the go-to for compressing MKVs.

Re: license not resetting after installing

The current key is expired. If you visit the key post that’s linked in the FAQ, it states that the current key is valid until the end of January 2021.

It is usual for the key to expire a day early on longer months.

You’ll have to wait for the new key to be posted.

Re: Terminator 2 multiple editions

Yup. The UHD and the Blu-ray 3D release are also just plain awful.

I still consider the 2015 Blu-ray release to be the best available at this time:

It’s possible someone else will have this same release and can help, but in the meantime, I’d recommend to post the log from when you open the disc and try to rip, as well as disc scans for troubleshooting: viewtopic.php?f=10&t=23959

Re: TENET UHD RB - Failed to open disk

I've tried the normal way from the MakeMKV app and via the Backup method... I've emailed the dump file. Any suggestions? Per the stickied FAQ, now that you’ve submitted the dump file, wait for the hashed key to be updated for the particular disc you have. In the meantime, if you want to, you should...

Any idea what can be done to resolve this?
Did you read the UHD FAQ and did you email the dump file to svq@makemkv.com?

Re: Lord of the Rings + The Hobbit 4K (Finally!)

I'm still relatively new to ripping discs, how should I proceed to remedy this issue? The answer to your question is in the UHD FAQ that's stickied at the top of this forum. I really want to rip these (they came yesrterday) to my NAS ... is there a definitive guide or do i need to read 15 pages of ...

Re: MakeMkv and Automation

Redfox demise. Um what? 1. Novice Mode 2. Expert Mode MakeMKV already has this in its normal mode vs its Expert Mode. Anyone who is interested in ripping discs to MKV files should have enough general computer savvy to get going using the normal mode, and it's very simple to use. There's no need for...

Re: Two MKV files from one BD disc?

MakeMKV’s primary role is ripping discs, to get a computer-playable MKV file, it’s not really meant for disc-related tasks such as authoring, cloning, backup, etc. MakeMKV does have a backup function that you could use to generate a folder structure copy of the disc, which you would then need author...

I tried MPV & VLC and for the same files the glitches cannot be seen during run-time at the same time segments.
