Re: TrueHD and HD Master audio advice
I just purchased the latest version of PowerDVD Ultra 13. (You can find people just selling the FULLY legal license keys on Ebay for cheap). It includes native support for Dolby HD audio streams and seems to work well. It has a little bigger footprint than VLC, but the native HD audio decoding in Po...

Re: TrueHD and HD Master audio advice
I installed the trial of powerdvd ultra 13 and all the HD audio streams play fine. I am going to switch gears and look at powerdvd because of the native HD audio support. There is an annoying bug right now in powerdvd 13 where clicking on an mkv with HD Master audio 5.1 will open powerdvd with no au...

I have a tripped out custom PC with a dedicated sound blaster recon 5.1 card and 5.1 speakers. I also have a Samsung 40" hdtv connected via hdmi. I tested the trueHD audio through the sound blaster card and then I used digital audio out the hdmi to my Samsung and same issue of only detecting 2 ...

Setting default tracks for subtitles and audio
Is there a way to set a default audio and default subtitle track in makemkv without having to use mkvtoolnix on all my rips? When I rip English subtitles, I always have to change the default subtitle flag(s) to "no" so they don't turn on automatically in vlc. It's not a major problem...it ...

TrueHD and HD Master audio advice
I started my makemkv project this week. During my 3 days of testing with VLC player I have figured out some issues with trueHD and HD Master audio. True HD only plays in 2 channel stereo and master HD seems to play ok with 5.1. I have read that VLC does not have HD audio codecs so I am thinking at t...

Re: VLC Player 2.0.6 released....subtitles working great!
Yea, you are absolutely correct, I had to mark the FORCED Stream as forced and default and it worked like a charm.

Re: Forced subtitles not marked as such
I used MKVtoolkit for the first time yesterday and the "header editor" fixes this problem very easily. VLC player 2.0.6 will also honor the headers and play the correct stream by default.

VLC Player 2.0.6 released....subtitles working great!
I downloaded and tested the new VLC player and tested it with MakeMKV files and it handles subtitles much better than previous versions...the player defaults to the correct subtitle stream with the forced subs...I used the header editor in MKVtoolkit and adjusted the settings on the 3 Sub streams an...

When is this going to be out of BETA?
I am looking to purchase this software and am wondering an approximate "go live" date. How much more development is necessary to get this out of beta status?
