Yes, it can be much bigger. T2 is 44.6GB on the disc. My example of 74GB was with only 1 of the 7 audio tracks. If you ripped all titles to separate mkv's, with all audio/subtitle tracks, it would take about 95GB.

Re: I'd go ahead and buy MakeMKV if...
For multiple versions - Terminator Skynet Bluray Edition has three versions of the movie. Each one is saveable by just selecting it. That results in, if you keep one subtitle track and only the lossless audio, about 74GB's being used. The method I am talking about allows you to have all versions, i...

Re: I'd go ahead and buy MakeMKV if...
How do you name the files? MakeMKV let's me select the directory, but it always names the files: "title00.mkv", title01.mkv", etc. For #7, I'm talking about mkv's with more than one version of the movie in one file. I recently ripped a movie with two versions: Theatrical and Extended....

Yeah, I didn't mean to imply that you were agreeing with the reasoning - I should have quoted your whole sentence: "I know it's been said that by default they want the core audio...." It's been a long time since I've seen a new release with TrueHD, but I trust that you're correct th...

These features were added: 1) An option to rip the HD audio tracks by default. 2) It were possible to name titles and streams. 3) It were possible to set default and forced flags (actually, this should be automatic when extracting forced subtitles). 4) It were possible to name output files. 5) Abili...

Re: default is *not to rip* HD audio?
they want the core audio because it's compatible with more devices. Is there any device that is compatible with the DTS core, and not DTS-HD MA? Isn't that one of the beauties of DTS - it's backwards compatibility? Considering DTS-HD MA is pretty much the only format used now, extracting the core o...

Re: Question regarding sound formats
DTS-HD MA always contains a DTS core. Dolby TrueHD never contains a core in mkv. If you only want to play the file on devices that support HD audio: Do not select the core. If you want to keep the HD audio, and still maintain compatibility with devices that do not support HD audio: Select DTS-HD onl...

Re: How to convert PCM into Flac
You should use eac3to to convert LPCM to flac. It will do a full lossless conversion.
The easiest way is to rip the movie with MakeMKV > use eac3to to convert LPCM to flac > remux with mkvmerge. You can use eac3to in command line, or there are a few GUI's.

If you select the core only, you only get the core. If you select only DTS-HD MA, you get both, because the DTS core is always present in DTS-HD MA.

Re: All frames in VC1 and H264 video streams are key frames
You could use TSMuxer to put the mkv back into a Bluray structure (if you have PGS subs, you'll need to extract those, which should be quicker than extracting the video), then run MakeMKV to re-create the mkv. Not perfect, but it may be a temporary workaround.

Re: All frames in VC1 and H264 video streams are key frames
Since MakeMKV marks the subtitles as a default track, I remux the MKV it produces with mkvmerge to turn the default flag off. There's no need to do that. Just open the mkv with MKVMerge GUI's header editor (File>Header Editor), and change the flag. It will take about 1 second to rewrite the header ...

At least, no one has developed a way to implement menus. And if there was a way to create a menu, no player could currently use them. I do believe we'll see it sooner or later, it's just going to require a developer who's interested. The best option as of now would be to combine all the songs into o...
