According to this, MKVToolnix runs on Mac. That's the essential command line tool the Gui front ends are using:

If you search this forum it's been described several times how to extract the PGS subs from .mkv and open them in BDSup2Sub etc.. Just search.

Google is your friend.

Re: Subtitles aren't showing up in Avatar

Handbrake used to burn in subs but the latest version claims soft sub support. But I see no mention of PGS. Your best bet is probably to convert to .srt subs. Then Handbrake can add them as selectable or burned in.

Re: Subtitle is transparent but outlined ?

I had the same problem, just outline no white fill in the subtitles on my WD box. This is the reply I got from Western Digital: Thank you for your reply. Please try using a different subtitle file for your MKV files. Compatible subtitle formats are SRT, ASS, SSA, SUB, SMI. Which format does makeMKV...

Re: Subtitle is transparent but outlined ?

If you just pulled the DVD directly into .mkv then I suppose the subtitles should be in DVD .sup format. If that's true then you could extract the subtitle track using MkvExtractGui-2 or the command line mkvextract from mkvtoonix download. Then just do the same bit with loading the .sup into DVDSubE...

Re: Subtitle is transparent but outlined ?

I don't have Live but I have the WD HDTV player for USB. afa subtitle files the only type I know for sure will work is an external .srt file. If you are talking English subs you can get .srt out of DVD without too much effort. Use DVDSubEdit as shown in this guide: http://forum.videohelp.com/threads...

Re: Defragging - Splitting

Peter, is this HD internal or external? I have WD HDTV for USB and USB 2.0 drives take forever to defrag. But recently I got a USB 3.0 card and a couple of Sharkoon USB 3.0 docking stations. The WD drives I stick in the docks function probably faster than if I installed them internally. I use Puran ...

PGS sub progress

I did just make some progress displaying PGS subs in Vista64. I'm using Shark's Vista Codec Pack with DirectVobSub for subtitles(the default setting.) I just installed Media Player Classic Home Cinema beta 64 bit. The MPC Home Cinema has the Subtitles option in the context menu disabled, so apparent...

I didn't think of mkvmerge. Thanks for pointing out that approach.

Produce .mkv from a single .m2ts file?

Is it possible or will it be in the near future to produce an .mkv from a single .m2ts input file? Sometimes I mux the .mkv to .m2ts to play with a set top box. If I could later get the .mkv back using the .m2ts file as input it would save some storage and/or processing. http://www.smilchat.net/smil...

Re: vlc seekbar crashes

Yeah, I installed a VLC pre that showed up on VideoHelp. I thought it may be more stable if they notified that site. SSDD. Plays .mkv as long as you don't touch the slider. But even if you don't touch it at all, as soon as it gets to a PGS subtitle, bye bye. It just closes. Really bizarre!! It's bee...

Re: vlc seekbar crashes

I thought I had something for a minute. I got the latest ffdshow. It has config for BluRay subtitles. I play an .mkv with a PGS sub, the VobSub arrow comes up, it sees an English sub is there, I set both that and Haaili media splitter thingy to Show Subtitles. But trying 5 different players I get no...

Hi!

Unfortunately, as far as I can tell, Windows Media Player is also limited to displaying only text-based subtitles...
Guess it's just one of those things we have to wait until it evolves.

Re: vlc seekbar crashes

So I loaded up WMP. .mkv with PGS subs. It doesn't even know they are there. If I just want to play .mkv Splash Lite plays much smoother than WMP. But it only supports .srt subs. That's the fly in the ointment.

Re: vlc seekbar crashes

I keep trying the Nightly builds. It seems like they are making progress with the slider issue on .mkv, until it contains a PGS subtitle. Then it dies as soon as you touch anything.
