MacTheRipper is still around. The developer just released a point update to version 5. You can create an unencrypted ISO, among other things. Lionsgate discs throw it a curve but they do the same with all rippers as far as I know.

Three letters words are difficult to search for. Red was released on Blu Ray on 1/25/2011 so you may want to look for posts around that date.

Yes. I saw that. I'm not getting any message when I open the disc so either I don't have Java set up right or makemkv isn't detecting the obfuscation. Hmm. There is a procedure outlined for reporting incorrect detection , but few seem to see it or follow it. The most popular way to deal with it is to complain that the detection doesn't work. YMMV but I sent files early last year for Patriot's Day and Deepwater Horizon and the latest MakeMKV still does...

Sounds like you need to install the app, properly.
Once the package/folder opens drag the app to the Applications folder.
