Re: MKV and iTunes

iTunes does not support MPEG-2/MKV videos. Using it's import function if it at all worked meant it was converting the videos into H.264/M4V format. If you want to convert the media use Handbrake to generate compatible video. What you should really do is generate a patchstick then install XBMC on the...

Re: 3D Support ?

Not yet but I think the developer is planning on it.

Keep in mind MKV media players capable of playing Blu-ray 3D video are only just coming onto the market, there are literately only a handful.

Re: Help for a newb with commentary track problem?

1) Rip taking all audio tracks associated with that video stream in MakeMKV. 2) Play mkv file in VLC or other media player and cycle through audio tracks until you get the correct one and make a note of which number it is. 3) Import the mkv file into Handbrake and go to the audio tab, select source ...

Re: Best media player

Some players are slightly better at different things so it depends on what you want. HDI Dune players have some of the most stable playback of HD video and HD audio bitstreaming but their UI is nothing snazzy and third party jukeboxes are complicated to set up. The Boxee Box has the fastest GUI and ...

Re: Feature Request:Flac Audio Conversion

Any chance of this happening at all ?

Boxee Box owners would be very grateful as there is a very tricky bug in HD audio that Intel/Boxee are trying to fix but it is slow going.

Re: MKV Header Editing / Haali Problem

Have you tried using a different MKV splitters like the LAV splitter or DivX one ?

Windows media center does not support mkv files natively is the root problem, have you considered trying other software like XBMC, MediaPortal, Boxee, QVIVO or GBPVR who natively support mkv.

Re: Question about playback with subtitles

Why don't you just remove subtitles when ripping it's a simple right click to bring up the context menu and choose unselect all.

Re: 1080p or 720p with AppleTV 2?

Well the rumors are the next variant of the AppleTV due at the end of the year will have 1080p display output. Yes in constant quality mode the lower the value the higher the bitrate applied to the conversion in Handbrake, though do it in small increments at RF16 you may have a pretty large video on...

Re: 1080p or 720p with AppleTV 2?

The AppleTV2 is an iPhone in a box it doesn't and never will have the capability to output 1080p display signal until the hardware is updated. I don't notice any difference between 1080p and 720p movies but just up the bitrate to compensate at 720p, try in Handbrake under the video tab setting RF=16...

Re: How to convert PCM into Flac

You can use Staxrip as a UI to eac3to, just set the video to "just mux" so it will copy the stream, it will retain subtitles and chapter data from the original mkv file too. You will have to create a Flac profile in the audio section and you can do 24-bit Flac.

Re: How can I determine the title names for episode discs?

Usually the disc box gives the names of the episodes on the discs.

There is one way you might be able to do it but I haven't tried this personally, is name the folder after the TV show then use The Renamer on the folder and it should hopefully auto-rename the files in the folder.

Re: Post-processing recommendations after ripping with makem

Staxrip can batch process files and convert into x264, there is also Cyko a front end for Handbrake which also includes batch encoding. Personally I'd give Xtreamer a wide berth, they are just a Realtek chipset licensee like AC Ryan and a dozen others but Xtreamer have a bad rep when it comes to cus...

Greenpois0n jailbreaks an AppleTV2, it installs Cydia which allows you to install other software on the ATV one of which is XBMC.

Only if you jailbreak the ATV (use greenpois0n) and install XBMC.

Otherwise no.

How to convert PCM into Flac

There are a handful of movies out there that don't contain any TrueHD or DTS-MA audio track but have a high definition PCM audio track which various media players will have problems with. You can convert the audio stream into lossless Flac to improve compatibility, this will also work on TrueHD and ...
