... dishwashed it, micro wiped it, tried about 20 times to rip it. I am getting tired of this. Delete this post if I asked the wrong question. The Patriot, Fury and Forrest Gump is killing me to. And Saving Private Ryan. The Patriot, Fury and now Stand By Me are the 3 titles using the AACS 2.1 ...

Re: DeUHD, Fury and The Patriot.
Studios do not “come up with” or develop AACS protection schemes. AACS LA, LLC does. As discussed above, studios just license it. For those curious minds, AACS LA makes available many of their forms/applications (which lists some of the fees) to purchase licenses/keys for mass disc production for multiple media formats on their website.smartieyoung wrote: ↑Thu Sep 12, 2019 12:24 amI would imagine the license the studios pay is very expensive.i wonder if the next copy protecton scheme the studios come up with will be just as complex as the one used for 4k discs.curious minds wonder😌
Some of these forms are extensive and list different types of fees throughout. These can add up and there are other fees behind that (implementation, authoring, etc) that also come into play for studios.
Regardless, as UHD BDs gain market share it may become a non-issue for studios to use other AACS 2.0 revisions. As profits may end up vastly outweighing costs. The format is still in its infancy and can very easily take a different direction with these revisions.
That cat and mouse game.
