Re: MakeMKV broken after upgrade to Ubuntu 18.04
Hm. Not what I expected. I'm not an expert, just throwing out ideas trying to help. It would appear you have something linked to libavcodec.so.57* try this: ls -l /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libavcodec.so.57* I don't know how many files you'll find, but it won't be a lot. For each of the files you fin...

Re: Dumb Question - Can't find MakeMKV
In Linux, it's located here:
/usr/bin/makemkv
Hopefully it's the same location for Mac

Re: MakeMKV broken after upgrade to Ubuntu 18.04
In a terminal, run ldconfig -p | grep libavcodec.so$ In my case (not running Ubuntu), I get this: libavcodec.so (libc6,x86-64) => /usr/lib64/libavcodec.so So I know my library is in /usr/lib64. Now run ls -l /usr/lib64/libavcodec.so and see what it's linked to. In my case (still not running Ubuntu),...

Re: Simple way with GUI to Re-encode from VC-1 to h264, h65 or anything "Plexable"?
https://forums.plex.tv/t/batch-converting-vc1-to-h264-mkv/166921/3 says you can do it with mkvtools. YMMV. This is a CPU intensive job; it will likely take many hours to complete depending on your PC. I personally wouldn't get too hung up on requiring lossless video. The streaming services (eg, Netf...

Re: Can't rip to another drive/mount point
Did you also verify every directory had read and execute permission?
Run mount and verify the filesystem is mounted "rw"
Wild crazy guess, change the name of 456iG to something without
numerals, eg, mv 456iG MEDIA.
good luck.

Re: Can't rip to another drive/mount point
If makemkv can't find directory
/a/b/c/d
then run ls -ld on each and every directory in the path, eg,
ls -ld / /a/ /a/b/ /a/b/c/ /a/b/c/d/
and check the ownership and permissions of every directory to see
is something looks out of whack.

Re: Can't rip to another drive/mount point
Can the user who is trying to run makemkv create files
in the directory that the user wants makemkv to rip to?
In other words, if that user cd-s to the directory
and runs "touch foobar", what happens?

Re: Venom playlist
Venom BD - "Gives Fatal error - will exit"
Same problem here, also running Linux.
If I do a backup, I will get a message saying something about (paraphrased) "ignoring PS3 specific file".
Perhaps this is a problem for Linux users only.

Re: Can we have 1.14.0 back please?
Woodstock's link to old releases are, I believe, for Windows executables, not Linux. I don't believe old Linux releases are available on the website. Linux users have to remember to save them. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong. As for setting the region code, you need to first get the program &...

Re: VIDEO_TS DVD backup
It depends on the DVD. Sometimes dvdbackup isn't able to auto-detect the title for you.I wasn't supplying the "-n" option (didn't think it was needed for a full-disc rip).
No clue as to why that is. I just always use the "-n" option to avoid any problem.

Re: VIDEO_TS DVD backup
I've also installed "dvdbackup" via MacPorts and tried that but haven't been able to get it to work (complains that it "Cannot seek DVD device"). I use dvdbackup (on Linux) frequently, never had any problem. My command line is usually this: dvdbackup -i /dev/sr0 -p -M -o /tmp -n...

Re: How to disable speed limit (Silent Play) on LG BD drive
I have two LG WH16NS40 blu-ray drives with the current up-to-date firmware. I've never see any speed limits (including older firmware). On older/used/played a lot Blu-Rays, I might only 3-4x speed when running makemkv, but on brand new ones, I typically get around 8x. If you are experiencing a speed...
