Does MakeMKV support Atmos Dolby Digital Plus Streams?

Post by Dazkine »

I got a Disk with DD+ Atmos Track. TrueHD Atmos works and you can see what MMKV recognize Atmos, but with DD+ there it says no Atmos.

Any clues?

It does not matter what MakeMKV says. What matters is if the receiver picks up Atmos. Have you actually test it on the receiver?

Atmos is just metadata. It does not need explicit support from MakeMKV. In fact your MediaInfo shows that it is indeed an Atmos track (DD+ Atmos).

You are wrong here. Atmos can be applied to E-AC3 as well.

In fact, Dolby is providing sample files for people to test it on their receiver.

Atmos is just metadata. There is nothing lossless or lossy about it. It can be used on DD+, not just TrueHD.
