I know there is a way to make a single MKV file from a disk, can someone tell me what setting needs to be changed? I looked through settings, and did not find it.

Also, is it possible that MakeMKV won't work on most Blueray disks fro the past 5 years or more?
I say this, because it mentions that it can't scan my Green Lantern disk, or Deadpool, both can't be ripped.

I am going to buy the program once I know ho many of my movies can be put into my Kodi system.

If the disk is not authored as "everything in one file", then no, MakeMKV can't do that for you.

Your description is more of wanting to make an ISO file of the disk, which can then be played with software that understands DVD ISOs.

I have a MKV video of the movie Hanna, that I am sure it was made with MakeMKV. It was a standard Blueray movie, even though the MakeMKV I downloaded last night can't scan my Blueray movies, and each DVD that I ripped gave me a big list of files, where I wanted a single MKV file. Now that you told me that it is not possible to make single mkv files of some movies, that just puzzles me.

Is there other software that can rip blueray movies, as well as DVD's.

First of all, an MKV file cannot hold menus, so you aren't looking for a program that can make MKVs.

MakeMKV can "back up" Bluray disks to directory structures on your hard drive, but this is not a "single file"; it would contain (almost) all the files on the original disk.

"Single file with everything" means you're looking to make an "ISO file", which is an image of the disk.

Or maybe I am not understanding what you are trying to accomplish.

If all you're wanting is the main feature it's there in your "big list of files".
Depending on whether the disc is single or double layer DVD the file size could range from approximately 4 to 8gb.
Blu-Ray main features are much (emphasis on much!) larger.

I found a program that makes KKV of all my disks, and I registered it after trying it. It was much easier to use, and worked way better than MakeMKV.

It took a simple web search to find it, and it wasn't cheap, but it works well.

Which does not work better than MakeMKV.

The MKV format does not support multiple titles in one physical mkv file. The reason is simple, the mkv file has only one header which describes the content. The Video, the Audio and the Subtitle tracks. To store multiple "titles" in one mkv file, all of them must have the same specifications. MKVToolNix can merge two or more mkv files into one mkv file, but only if the tracks in all mkv files have the same specifications.
Putting all titles of an DVD or Blu-ray in one mkv file is pure nonsens, I cannot see any benefit for this.
