How to resize Blu-ray to 16:9 aspect ratio

Post by joesrepsol »

Wanting to export blu-ray media (ultra wide format) to fit the output of my TV which is 16:9 widescreen.

Exporting seems to keep the 1920x804 (range) sizing with no black bars (great). But I'm trying to make the output 16:9 and can't seem to get the right settings.

Help?

Thanks!

MakeMKV does not change the video.

If you want to change it (including removing the letterboxing), you need a tool like handbrake to do that.

Oh, and 1920x1080 is 16:9 aspect ratio. Many modern movies are shot in up to 21:9, so we immediately went back to letterboxing the video...

Changing the aspect ratio from 21:9 (2,35:1 Cinemascope movie format) means, that a "zoom-in" into the picture must be done to get it to 16:9 (1,78:1 TV format). In this case (to remove the black bars) something must be removed out on the left and right side. No a good idea.
Good Luck :)
