Can the program be smart enough if there are multiple drives for the multiple instances to each grab a different drive at initialization? This would seem relatively simple to implement and could avoid physical contention issues.

It is a long-standing request that Mike has said he is considering, but, the the years I've been using the program, it hasn't been a high-enough priority for him to do it. There really aren't that many of us with multiple drives on a single machine...

I have two blu-ray drives and on some rare occasions have used both drives running under multiple instances of Makemkv. It's a bit quirky to start up but it works. I was curious however about the limitations of running multiple instances such as operating systems, memory, processor cores and so on. Both instances seem to process at a same speed as if running separately and one at a time. It would seem the biggest factor is the read speed of the drive itself.
