I don’t own a 4k pj yet anyways. Was just fooling around to see if it worked.

My 49” uhd tv is not the best use of that technology

I made a mistake earlier - I have the BC not the BW which I believe should work. Someone posted on AVS (and then had their post erased, mysteriously) that their same drive (Asus BC-12B1ST) with 3.00 firmware worked

Problem is I can't seem to locate 3.00 firmware for that drive. and the Asus page shows 3.01 available.

Is the BW-16D1HT firmware cross compatible?

The only difference between the BC snd BW is the packaging. One is the OEM and the other is the RETAIL.

IT’S THE SAME DRIVE.

As you’ve been told before (viewtopic.php?f=16&t=17223&p=64927&hilit=12B1ST#p64927), it’s listed INCORRECTLY as a friendly drive. That post “disappeared” most likely because the author realized he was talking out of his ass. Stop beating this dead horse and buy a proper friendly drive if you want to rip UHD BDs.

Going down the path you are thinking you will most likely brick your drive and only bring on even more frustration and confusion upon yourself. Stop while you’re ahead and get a proper drive.

You don't. Attempting to will brick the drive. It's too old.
