Just a quick question as the title states i'm unsure weather the 3.02 firmware version of the Asus BW-16D1HT is friendly or not, just want to make sure before I try and rip anything just to learn it isn't friendly.

Just installed this drive and I am on 3.02. It will not read Avengers Infinity War (the only disc I have). Should I try to downgrade to 3.01?

To clear things up on this. There is a revision of 3.02 released by ASUS for their drives that disallows/fixes the loophole for UHD BD ripping/reading.

The "CLEAN" version/revision of 3.02 which contains the much needed loophole can be found in these forums (specifically here: viewtopic.php?f=16&t=17058) or the drive can be downgraded to one of the other lower firmware versions that also contain the loophole.

So, read the aforementioned thread/post and decide which version you would prefer to downgrade to.

EDIT: Another thread that can contain links to working firmware for this specific drive:

I seem to have the non clean version.

I am not a techie and the process listed in the first post of the other thread is beyond me. Is that the only way?
