My NS60 came with 1.02. I just bought it in December. I've not yet tried it as I was waiting for the support. I'll try tomorrow but it's definitely not flashed.
Ok so I can't read. It came with 1.01. I don't know why I thought it said 1.02. I'm about to install it and see what happens. Based on previous responses I'm guessing it's not going to work yet. Sorry for the confusion. MFG date is 10/2018.

EDIT: As expected DEBUG: Code 01BE/03

Is there any real reason not to downgrade the NS60 drive to 1.00 firmware? The only change between 1.00 and 1.01 is the removal of the "friendly" aspect of the drive, correct? I already created the firmware, I just haven't flashed it yet.

No reason I know of.
You can always cross flash it to ASUS 3.01 for the speed boost as well :-)

the only info they gave for the 1.01 update was improved disk compatibility and thats the same thing they said for 1.03 and 3.03 update that killed uhd friendlynes i would say there is no reason not to.
i would not go to the asus firmware it has the sleep bug and thats annoying

The "sleep bug" doesn't bother me, waiting any longer than I have to for a rip to finish does though.

Yea sorry about that. Brain malfunction. I could have sworn when I pulled it out of the box and read the label it said 1.2 but um no. As for ASUS I already have an ASUS with 3.02 on it and I use that regularly to rip. I decided to grab the NS60 when this thread came around just to have one on hand. Yea, I think I'm going to go flash it. Like I said, I already have the firmware created to flash it, but, I appreciate the offer. I've got both the ASUS and LG installed in the same machine now. :D

If you're not doing it yourself I'd be happy to do it for you for the low low price of 0 dollars and 0 cents. Feel free to email me.
I have a WH16NS60 with 1.01 firmware I need downgraded to 1.00 to be able to rip UHD discs, and I'm too impatient to wait. What's your email? Sorry I'd send you a PM, but doesn't look I have the proper rights yet. I'm just a lurker and seldomly post. :)

Thank you I've been looking high and low for the NS60 1.02 but it just doesn't exist :)
Yes you need a flashing. If you're not doing it yourself I'd be happy to do it for you for the low low price of 0 dollars and 0 cents. Feel free to email me.
If you have a WH16NS60 1.00 ROM image and a tool to reflash the drive with it, I'd appreciate it. I'm not afraid to do it myself, I just haven't found anywhere that has the thing.

I just did exactly that. I extracted my firmware from the drive, used the nifty data mover tool with the NS60 1.0 clean firmware that's floating around (https://www106.zippyshare.com/v/x0llCZ1c/file.html gotten from https://club.myce.com/t/dosflash-v2-0-p ... ves/399911) and then I just flashed it. I now have that magical DEBUG: Code 03DF/03 status.

Hello everyone,
as I say above, I have a LG BU40N V1.02 drive that unfortunately displays the default 01be / 03.
Do you know if Mike will also correct this problem, or should I move towards a firmware type 1.01 in place of the one I have?
I admit I'm not a geek and I'm afraid to flash my reader and make things.
So do I have to wait for Mike's magic or get started on a new firmware version?
Thanks to All

I would encourage you to have your drive flashed by one of us geeks, although I prefer the term nerd, or dude, or simply Alex :-)

Had a stack of 8 slims to go through today, 1 BU50N firmware BW50, 5 BU40Ns firmware 1.02, 1 BU40N firmware 1.01, 1 BU40N firmware 1.00. So both 1.00 and 1.01 are friendly and released in 2016 and 2017 respectively with 1.02 the cock-blocker appearing in 2018.

We got any electrical engineers around here? I need some help figuring out where and which pins to solder a SATA data connector onto on an LG BP60NB10 which is USB out only in order to dump it's firmware. Happy to send you one if schematics are not to be found online.

Do you have an esata adapter on your computer? You could possibly get a usb to esata cable so that your usb drive would connect to the esata port, then the esata port is connected to your sata motherboard connection.

Something like
https://www.startech.com/au/HDD/Adapter ... B3S2ESATA3

and
https://www.amazon.ca/StarTech-com-ESAT ... B000NPKGH4

Thanks for this. It filled in some gaps in my understanding. I was able to use my backup NAS over IPMI with a 7 PE disc and do the necessary downgrade, and I'm now ripping a disc with the drive transplanted back into my workstation.
