Just for a summary for all Newbies like me!

I bought the LG BU40N with firmware 1.03
(copying with DVDFAB was not possible ... read errors))

Downgrade with the tools in the first post failed (error #4)

Crosscraded to 1.03 MK with the tool linked on this page 26 of the thread.
(copying with DVDFAB was not possible)

Downgraded to Firmware DE_LG_BU40N_1.00 with the tools in the first post of this thread ... worked!

Copying "Man in Black 4k" with DVDFAB worked.

:D

I did a search before asking and only found a thread from July which said LG USB drives weren't supported at all yet.

MakeMKV 1.14.4 on an air-gapped Windows 10 device.

Product: BD-RE HL-DT-ST BP50NB40
Firmware: 21141216 10:16
SVC Code: NB40
Rom Ver.: 1.00 (1.00d)
Manufactured: 2015-02-12

This device appears to be listed in the latest sdf.bin, the product, firmware and ROM all match.

I get no LibreDrive information in MakeMKV but I think that's because I have an air-gapped machine.

1) Is this specific device supported by the modified Asus Flasher?
2) Where can I find the Drive Platform information on an air-gapped machine?
3) Are NB40 devices supported at all? The Ultimate UHD Drives Guide mentions only NS50 drives and later.

Please read the first post of this very thread. The BP50NB40 SVC: NB50 is supported. The SVC: NB40 is not guaranteed to be flashable but you can try it if you want to.

Cheers

For some reason after flashing my drive its no longer able to read discs. It shows when the drive is opening and closing but now its not reading DVD or BR in MakeMKV 1.14.5.

I have LG WH16NS40 drive and wanted to downgrade to a 1.0 version to fix the sleep bug and possibly enable LibreDrive. I ran ASUS_ODD_FW_Changer_(Modified).exe with file DE_LG_WH16NS40_1.02_NS50.bin restarted and then I ran DE_LG_WH16NS60_1.00.bin since several other forum posts say that 1.0 firmware is also compatible with the WH16NS40 drive. After doing that is when I have the issue. So I reflashed the DE_LG_WH16NS40_1.02_NS50.bin and its still no good. Am I screwed?

Your drive now says mt 1959 but I'm 100% sure before it said Mt 1939. You can fix it but you need dos flash. That is also in the thread

Hi,

I just ordered an Asus BW-16D1HT and plan to flash it to MK 3.10. Before that I'd like to make a backup though, in case I have a warranty case or something.

All threads I found on firmware backups here seem to be outdated and locked. Or maybe my search was to generic...

Anyway, what would be the preferred way to create a backup, that can be used with the modified Asus flasher? Or should I still choose a method from https://www.makemkv.com/forum/viewtopic ... 16&t=17058?

As Billy said, just grab the official ASUS 3.10 flasher from their website.

OR

I do have a copy of the original 3.10 that I extracted from the official ASUS 3.10 flasher. If you want a copy of this, let me know. (Although, there really isn't much (if any) need for a backup).

If the drive comes with 3.03, you could use the old dosflash method to back up the firmware. (I also have a copy of 3.03, extracted from the official ASUS flasher.)

Then I'll just grab the official flasher from the Asus site, once I know, which version to get.

Thanks, guys.

You must flash 3.10-MK first. Then, if you don't want to use 3.10-MK, you can flash whatever firmware you want.

Grabbed the file and successfully flashed it. Many thanks for your help.

Can not thank you enough for the great advice and good directions here! Bought the Asus BW-16D1HT, which came with 3.03. Used the FW Flasher to downgrad to 3.02. Drive door opened, closed a few seconds later, spun for a few more seconds and MakeMKV reported as 3.02. Ripped my first movie @30MB/s - Martian Extended - Thank you!

Now, I've searched fruitlessly both here and on the web for a solution to my need, with no luck.
The ISO that I made with Anydvd and mounted in Virtual Clone Drive will not extract the MPLS files using the tools I have always used with Blu-ray to make a single file for play via HDD attached to 4K Samsung TV. It plays each segment fine, but I'd like one file with all of the 800 or 801 playlist files in order.
Grateful for any help.
