UHD Disc Weirdness

So I have about 5 uhd (Deadpool, Despicable Me 3, Guardians of the Galaxy 2, Storks, Cars 3) movies and 1 TV show (Stranger Things). Some rip fine, and other act weird. Sometimes it works, other times it fails. Bluray discs always work.

I've been reading through the firmware threads which make me wonder, should I flash my drive with a different firmware? Will that fix it?

Here is some info from the discs:

Stranger things for instance, failed on all 3 episodes and then another time 2 out of the 3 failed. I've wiped the discs but nothing helps. I'll try it again and then all 3 fail.

I can always put in a bluray and it has never failed which makes me wonder what is going on with UHD.

I've tried makemkv_v1.14.3 and for some reason, it seems to work better on makemkv_v1.12.3. This was all in OSX and I have also confirmed same weirdness on Windows 10.

What happens when it fails? I think I have the same issue. Mine will get so far with uhd then crash out of makemkv, needing a power cycle of laptop and lg NS60 drive
