did i just brick my wh60ns40?

Post by JediFonger »

this all started cause my black hawk down UHD might have issues being read by my LG UBK90

i read that my model# is capable of reading if i used a mk fw.

i flashed HL-DT-ST-BD-RE_WH16NS40-NS50-1.05-NM00900-212005061440.bin encrypted using the instructions and got 98% before it crapped out into somn "debug" gibberish failed and now my drive is no longer detectable.

did i just brick this? rebooted several times no dice.

any tips on how to recover this? i've DL the windows image not sure how that can be used to recover this, is there a video accompanying it?

Yes, you bricked the drive. Pay attention to and take the time to read the guides/info posts/stickie posts across the forum, including the warnings noted within. They are there to try and answer these common questions and help avoid problems prior to taking such actions. We can’t stress this enough. Start here:

https://www.makemkv.com/forum/viewtopic ... 16&t=19634

Try the SDF Tool option mentioned and linked there to see if it’s still recoverable. Otherwise move on and buy a new drive.

1.05MK or 1.03MK? For what??

That drive is too old and not UHD compatible, thus you cannot use the MK firmware on that drive. You should use the recovery firmware DE_LG_WH16NS40_1.01 from the SDFtool Flasher thread.
Cheers :D

In the "Important" section you should have checked:

Make sure your Drive was built after 2015
2. Drive Platform MT1959<Most important

You should have run Makemkv before flashing your drive. It would have said something similar like this:

Drive Information
OS device name: D:
Manufacturer: ASUS
Product: BW-16D1HT
Revision: 3.02
Firmware date: 2117-11-24 14:13
Bus encryption flags: 1F

LibreDrive Information
Status: Enabled
Drive platform: MT1959
Firmware type: Original (unpatched)
Firmware version: 3.02
DVD all regions: Yes
BD raw data read: Yes
BD raw metadata read: Yes
Unrestricted read speed: Yes

Your drive was most likely based on MT1939.

Ok, I hate to break it to you but March 2015 is still within year 2015. The guide clearly states after 2015. Yes, it means the years after 2015. Not sure where you are getting the March 2015 automatically means some other year, but it’s becoming obvious you are having trouble understanding the most simple and basic aspects of this, so the more complicated ones will be out of the question here. Do yourself a favor before you go any further down this rabbit hole and contact someone that can hold your hand through the entire process. Start here:

https://www.makemkv.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=20

And this time read and clearly pay attention to the posts with information regarding those services and how to contact them. Some of those members help for a fee others may offer help for free.

Well... The experience you made was the reason that I wrote my guide to be more cautious:

https://forum.redfox.bz/threads/guide-f ... dvd.79023/

You need a Redfox forum account to see the pictures. And my guide concetrates on AnyDVD. But drives that work with that also work with Makemkv and the monkey.
