Alright so my last thread was all about my drive not working, I was told to flash it, I did, it bricked. Blah blah blah. Moving on.

Now I bought a new drive. This is what I see when I open MakeMKV:

Drive Information
OS device name: D:
Manufacturer: ASUS
Product: BW-16D1HT
Revision: 3.03
Serial number: M6IIAOF2554
Firmware date: 2118-01-19 15:58
Bus encryption flags: 1F
Highest AACS version: 65

LibreDrive Information
Status: Possible (with patched firmware)
Drive platform: MT1959
Harware support: Yes
Firmware support: No
Firmware type: Original (patched version available)
Firmware version: 3.03
DVD all regions: Possible (with patched firmware)
BD raw data read: Possible (with patched firmware)
BD raw metadata read: Possible (with patched firmware)
Unrestricted read speed: Possible (with patched firmware)

The drive was manufactured in October 2018 according to the label on the drive. Any help on what I need to do at this point would be very helpful so that I don't brick this one. Much appreciated to any that can assist me.

Get the MK firmware pack there. You will be flashing MK 3.10.

Use the flasher in that post. The firmware the drive came with is not UHD friendly as it stands, so, the update to MK 3.10 or a downgrade to DE 3.02 will be needed. That drive is pretty hard to brick, so, rest easier on this one. Good luck!!

Alright I flashed the firmware you said, and now MakeMKV just says this:

---
Drive Information
OS device name: D:
Manufacturer: ASUS
Product: BW-16D1HT
Revision: 3.10
Serial number: M6IIAOF2554
Firmware date: 2119-01-04 10:14
Bus encryption flags: 1F
Highest AACS version: 65

No disc inserted
---

Good to go at this point I assume?

Yea, throw a disc in there so LibreDrive will download and activate for it and you'll get more info. But yes, looks good to me.

Hello! Today I got a new 4K drive (HL-DT-ST; BD-RE BU40N) that LibreDrive supports with a flash. There is a suitable firmware from MKV. I just don't know how to install this software. I've tried installing it as a driver, but Windows automatically keeps the latest version. How do you downgrade your drives?

I have already installed mike's tool and found the right driver. But always comes the error message “Checksum is mismatched. Drive will go to BOOT mode. Please retry again.“

So I then installed successfully just a driver for another drive. I was hoping it might work that way. However, the drive no longer rotates fast enough for the disc to be readable.

Does anyone know how I can reset the drive to the original driver?

Windows always reports, that the current driver is already installed…
A windows driver and a drive’s firmware are two completely different things.

You cannot and should not install firmware as a windows driver and/or visa versa. So, why did you or are you trying to install the firmware as a windows driver?

You said you used “Mike’s tool”, so which tool/app are you talking about?

You appear to be all over the place with this and/or have lack of clarity as to what is being discussed here and within the guide provided, so you have to be more specific as to exactly what you are trying to do and why.

There's a handy guide for flashing: Ultimate UHD Drives Flashing Guide
It is kept up to date. In the section titled 'Recommended Firmware to flash for MakeMKV' you'll find your drive mentioned.
