And one more time in summary: any drive that contains the 1959 chip can be flashed with WH16NS60 firmware to take advantage of the speed improvements offered by LibreDrive 6.
This act of cross flashing however may break compatibility WITH other software packages due to them not supporting the UHD Official drives and furthermore you may break a drive's ability to burn discs (ASUS all models that are burners??)
Anything else? Oh slim drive lemme check that here.

macOS 10.15.4
BU40N slim drive unrestricted drive speed = NO
WH16NS60 = YES

Is LibreDrive enabled at all on that slim drive?

Yes it is, and as Billy just pointed out Unrestricted Read Speed set to NO upon running MakeMK for the second time, all good.

Yea that's good. I was asking because Mike said this was a pretty extensive change so we want to confirm all functionality not just the rip speed. I realize we're all hot for the rip lock but we gotta validate everything. :)

Is there any chance that we could have a configurable libredrive option with the "sleep bug" and "unrestricted read speed" maybe in advanced options? I'd be willing to move fast enough to avoid sleep bug for the benefit of faster UHD read.

V6 doesn't work on my WH16NS60. I don't know whether it matters or not, but the drive is connected to internal SATA port.

MakeMKV consumes the sdf.06f.bin just fine and the LibreDrive information looks correct to me, but for some reason it doesn't work. V5 works like a champ.

It does not work like that, unfortunately. What we thought of a "sleep" bug is actually a "permanent lost sync on high speed" bug. The bug happens when drive speed reaches certain level (anything above default). We only noticed it happening after sleep because it was the only time drive spinned too fast. Recall, how the drive goes out of sleep - it briefly spins very fast and then stabilizes. So the cause for the bug is not the act of sleep, but the act of going out and briefly spinning too fast.
Enabling fast speed instantly triggers that very bug, without going to sleep state altogether.

That's interesting that it only happens on UHD friendly drives and not official. They must have code in the firmware that handles that. Thanks for the explanation of what's happening!

Same bug then, not limited to slim drives. Were you be able to "reset" the drive - power it off completely. For SATA drive that means either powering off the computer or unplugging drive power if your SATA controller supports hotplug.

Well the read speed is impressive. However I did get some strange debug codes thrown. Ignore my dirty screen lol.
