asus bw-16d1h-u pro downgrade??

Post by carglez »

I have bought an asus bw-16d1h-u pro... The brand tells me to apply a downgrade from the version it has (A205) to the A204 version... Why?

The brand Asus?
I don't think you are barking up the right tree if your asking Asus about this

Let me explain: The manual says to apply the firmware update that indicates a link. The link takes you to download the A204 firmware, but MakeMKV or DVDInfo say that the version of the drive is A205, that is, a later firmware. That's why my question: Why should I downgrade the unit's firmware? ...Is it necessary for it to be "friendly"? ...Will you need it to make it 4K compatible?

More often than not manufacturers give out new firmwares to make drives (more) unfriendly at all.

What is the drive information MakeMKV lists on the right side when you start the program?

Forget that link and make your drive UHD friendly with 204 MK. See Billy's guide:

@carglez did you ever get it to downgrade to A204?

I am trying to get a firmware version that can rip PS3 discs.. I know the BW-16D1HT can do that, but thought the BW-16D1H-U PRO is the same drive, doesn't seem like it.

Thanks

Nah man the makemkv drive info we are on makemkv
But it seems like it's a pioneer it's a better drive for UHD but yeah don't think any of the pioneers see ps3 discs only LG drives do or Asus rebranded LG drive would be safer to get an LG wh16 so you don't end up like this again or the wh14 if it's cheaper
