Asus BW-16D1HT fails after first title

Post by ExplodingLemur »

I have an Asus BW-16D1HT in an NST-536S3 NexStar DX enclosure. I am able to extract the first title from a disc just fine. After that however the drive seems to disappear and subsequent titles fail to read. The OS does not see the drive and it's not until I fully shut down my computer, power off the drive, and then power everything back up again that it comes back. I am then able to extract the second title from the disc but it fails subsequent titles in exactly the same way.

That's kinda normal with dirty discs in an LG or Asus they just decide to disappear.
You can try cleaning the discs and laser but those drive are just frustrating junk
I recommend a pioneer with old fw I have them.

The disc just came out of the package and is clean, and the drive is also new. There are no issues when extracting each individual title. It just disappears after finishing whatever title it started with.

Did you ever solve this problem? It sounds like a low power problem to the USB or possibly a usb 2.0 cable instead of 3.0 being used.

I have not. The enclosure has its own power supply and I am using a USB3 cable. Like I said it will complete an entire title just fine, but the drive disappears after completing that title. I would expect power or USB problems to present while reading.
