my SBS 3D mkv files are nowhere near as 3D as the original 3D blurays

I adjusted the slider. Too high makes the image blurry and too low has little effect. The image is technically 3D but again nowhere near as good as the Blu-ray experience.
Am I doing something wrong?
Has anyone gotten 3D Blu-ray quality 3D out of mkv files? If so please help.
